Nobody is knocking anybody out. It's going 12 unless either Sdunek or Bloodworth decides to start chucking terrycloth.
At heavyweight its been significantly less hard-Both Arreola and the sub top-20 Grant did some real damage. Adamek has a great chin and is tough, but his heavyweight fights do show if Vitali connects the kind of artillery he did against Briggs, that this could end in a stoppage loss. I don't think it will, but it is easily possible.
Fight News and Box Rec has Adamek at #3 behind Wlad and Vitali. Ring Magazine has Adamek at #3 as well.
Getting rocked by Arreola & Grant, plus dropped by McBride, suggests to me that Adamek won't hear the final bell. However, Adamek is a brave warrior & highly ranked contender, & a former champion at lightheavy & cruiser. Such a win for Vitali, will rank up there with his victories over Peter, Sanders & Gomez.
Adamek does not carry the power to stop Vitali, he may win some rounds with his busy style but ultimately I think he gets worn down .He is also no spring chicken himself at 34. His wins are over a finished Golota ,who has been recycled more times than the Tour De France.Golota was 41 and had never beaten a class heavyweight. He was stopped in 1 rd in his previous fight. Beating Michael Grant who was resoundingly exposed as a false alarm by Lewis years ago should not qualify you for a title shot, nor should outpointing Arreola who has been shown to be no more than a glorified ,pudgy club fighter.Same with McBride. The fact that Adamek is among the best of a very poor bunch is a tragic commentary on the state of what was once the most respected of domains in sport, the Heavyweight Championship The fact that he is one of the more deserving contenders just emphazises how pathetically weak the division is.
Adamek will cover himself in glory by making a spirited, gutsy stand against Vitali, but the Ukrainian giant will turn in a performance on the lines of his wins over Peter and Briggs and look great in stopping the mighty Pole in the 11th by tko. And I predict that retirement will follow for Vitali, maybe not right after the fight but sometimes real soon, as he's near the end of his rainbow.
I hope that Adamek somehow pulls it of. Really like that guy. Needs a combination of Vitali getting old and Tomasz fighting the best fight of his life though.
Adamek has youth , speed and talent ... Vitali is pretty old and that can show or an injury can develop at any time ... still, Vitali is a Klitschko and that means he will come int the ring in top condition, mentally and physically ... it might be a closer fight than many think .. you have to favor Vitali but this might be the night he really shows his age against a fast, well conditioned talented guy ...
I'm more interested than I thought I would be for a few reasons, most of which impact vitali's legacy. If adamek fights like a smaller quicker fighter getting in and out then it'll answer some questions about vitali's h2h prowess considering the struggles he had with byrd. Plus the longevity factor compounded by a top 5 victory would be very impressive. I tend to think vitali would generally struggle with the style I expect adamek to bring. A victory here for vitali would dramatically reduce the number of people in history I think could beat him. Ofcourse a defeat won't mean anything detrimental to his legacy because of his age. I always root for the underdog but in this fight I don't think it's clear who that is. The old robotic slow giant or the young fluid determined cruiserweight. I'll be looking forward to seeing how it plays out.
