How would a Prime Tommy Morrison do today?

I can not belive how someone thinks fat Arreola could beat Morrison, no way!!! Arreola is most overrated fighter ever!

 

Sorry but I'd have to agree that the newly motivated and fit Arreola would take Tommy's best shots and outwork him for a decision win(possible late stoppage but most likely a decision).

 

Morrison won't beat the Klitchkos to become undisputed, but he could beat Povetkin and Helenius to become the best blond heavyweight of modern era.

 

Don't think that's a right measuring stick for the man's abilities.
Bentt maybe just edges his top 10 of best opponents, and he has beaten the likes of old Foreman and 'Razor' Ruddock (both after the Bentt debacle).
It only shows his obvious weakness -his chin-, but his other abilities more as make up for it.

Only thing you can hold against him is that his power wasn't "natural". But that's the same with RJJ and (very probably) Holy for instance.

 

The only fans who would rank Morrison high today are haters. Tommy was a good puncher, no chin, no heart, no stamina, PED user whos best fights came from a needle.

 

Morrison would likely beat the Arreolas and the Witherspoons, but be halted against the K2, Chagaev, Potvetkin, Chambers, Thompson, Haye, Helenius.

So I guess I rank him top 10, maybe around 8.

 

I would favor Tommy over Arreola.. But i wouldnt be surprised if Chris beated him..

 

I don't think he'd beat anyone in the top ten. He'd have a chance against Chagaev or Arreola, but I wouldn't favor him. Helenius and Wlad would put him on a stretcher. The HW div isn't looking so bad currently.

Wow, I can't believe you brought that fight out. Tommy had an OK chin, but he was nailed square while posing there with Bennt on the ropes.

No coming back from that kind of shot. Sadly, when a fighter stops to admire his work, this often happens. Tommy coulda been a decent challenger for Holy or Lewis, but he was always so overconfident. Similar in a lot of ways to a young Wladimir Klitschko.

 

He could get a mandatory title shot these days. He'd be a top 5 boxer IMO but he'd get dominated by either K brother with ease.
