Maidana already cut that tree down - now Floyd is going to throw it into the tree chipper !

I have however heard that all of the for-mentioned boxers have had a "woody" at one time or the other. For the record, I found your thread topic and post more than mildly amusing. I actually chuckled at one point and disturbed my dog. :good

Look, basically, having burned a Ben Franklin or two in his time - you know Floyd would have consorted George Washington who has a great record against trees. Floyd will come in with a Washington shoulder roll technique, ready to get on the inside of those branches and chop away.

And heaven knows Floyd is the greatest cherry picker*

    * Not really, that honour falls to Pacquaio, but for comedic purposes lets make it so

A tree right? I guy that gave up exchanging with Maidana and was dropped like somebody would yell timbeeeer against Berto. Man, this guy already lost and he is not going to land more than ten punches per round against Floyd. Cashes in and gets a name for himself for having lasted the distance against Mayweather.

I say he will land around 6-7 punches per round when it is all said and done. Just my opinion. I don't think Ortiz fires straight enough, or accurate enough to hit a defensive fighter at the level of Mayweather. Then there is the experience factor and speed, and I just don't see it happening.

Intriguing aspects about Ortiz basically run down to him being: young, hungry, and having punching power. Mayweather coming back from a layoff and being 34 years of age is also something that makes it intriguing.

Fact is, other than a Pacquiao fight, there really isn't much else out there at welterweight to fight. Perhaps Berto down the line if he continues his comeback?

I still see the Mayweather vs Pacquiao fight happening sometime next year. It's all about maximizing profits in my opinion.

But I have never seen anybody defeat a tree before in the ring. So we will see.

The one thing Oscar said that made sense, at 34, the chances of stepping in the ring and having an off night are far higher than they were at even 30, you've reached the peak of your physicality and you're now on a downward slope.

While a gym rat like Floyd may be able to pull a Hopkins, we've also got to remember that Hopkins adapted and adjusted his style to suit "off nights" - where as if Floyd isn't the quickest in the ring, can he be the best timer of counter punches like Hopkins?
