I didn't know much about Mayhem when I became aware of him a while back, so I watched whatever of him I could and did a bit of research into his career. Put simply, I rate the guy, I think he's an excellent fighter. However, I see on his record that he has been stopped by Frank Trigg. I find this difficult to get my head around, having not seen the fight, as I think Mayhem seems a vastly superior fighter to Trigg. Anyone here explain to me how that fight went down?
Trigg went on to upset Kazuo Misaki who was top ranked, right after, so it's not like it was a shameful loss or anything.
Trigg was no slouch. He gave a prime Matt Hughes all he could handle, twice. Mahyem has merely been a contender, it's not like he has ever been considered the best in the world at any of the weight divisions he has competed in. I had not seen that footage until PivotPunch posted it, but I can't say it's surprising.
Hadn't seen that either, but there was a time when Frank was considered legit. I'd also consider GSP vastly superior to Serra and Silva vastly superior to Chonan and JDS is vastly superior to Joaquim Ferreira. Sometimes one guy has a bad night while the other guy is on fire. It happens.
Well I suppose when you put it like that, it's not much of an issue really. I dunno, from what I've seen I think Mayhem is really pretty skilled though, whereas Trigg was just a fairly strong wrestler and not much else. Still, like someone said earlier on this thread, when soccer kicks are involved it's a whole different ball game!
I never thought he was very well-rounded or very skilled though. Just a strong wrestler with mean intentions.
Nick Diaz DUCKED Mayhem you idiot!! After talking all that ****, "ill fight anybody from 170 to 185," but he ducked Mayhem?! Hahahahahahahaha
