Other than Floyd, which fighters have retained their speed into their mid-30s?

Floyd's handspeed and all-round sharpness still seem as good as they were in his 20s, although he does fight a bit more flat-footed now.

What other fighters have retained their handspeed and sharpness to the age of 34?

Calzaghe would be one actually. His handspeed at 36 was superb. Who else?

    None. It's a physical impossibility.
They still might be better than others, but they won't be as quick as they were in their mid 20's.

    Unless they have some assistance.

 Why did I not think to include this one. An obvious and excellent example.

I'm not so sure about these ones. Mosley's feet had really slowed by the late 2000s, dramatically so when compared to how he fought around 2000. I'd need to watch some Winky and compare the young vs old to decide on that, the guy was just not reliant on speed at all so I've never noticed/considered this before with him.

Damn not many. You guys already got serge and Cal. Pep would have been 35 in 1957 but did he still have his speed at that point? I can't youtube it right it now.

I'm not sure about that. The Zab of recent fights doesn't look like he did in the early-mid 2000s. Judah back then was one of the fastest guys of the last 20 years, like lightning.

Retain or maintain? Floyd isn't as quick as he used to be, but he's still close, as is Pacquiao. JMM was never lightning but his speed is similar, though obviously slowed down. Martinez is an obvious choice, starting in his 20's, and Bernard has maintained a lot of his speed as well. Against Lebdedev, RJJ had some leftover quickness.

I don't think Floyd's handspeed or footspeed are as quick as they once were. In fact, I don't think his hands have ever been as fast once he left 130.

He relies more on timing, ring IQ, economy, accuracy, etc...than his speed, although that is still very good.

I think RJJ actually kept more of his speed in his 30s than Floyd has, although naturally RJJ slowed down as well. Still blazing fast at 34 against Ruiz. He looked surprisingly sharp physically at 36 in the third Tarver fight, which was a bit strange, he looked much better physically that night than he did a year earlier against Glencoffe. Even at 40, he was fast as hell against Lacy (granted, it was a shot Lacy).

I'd expect Floyd to keep more of the speed of his reflexes, especially defensive reflexes, than Roy did at an advanced age, but not his hand speed as well as Roy has.
