Other than Floyd, which fighters have retained their speed into their mid-30s?

I very much doubt you're qualified to made that assesment "Dr. Sandman" .... people age at different rates so it's not completely out of the question that a fighter can maintain their speed into their 30's... although it is rare.

Not really. Age is age man. Some people adjust to it better, some people use experience to counter the pure physical ability of youth, and some were that ****ing quick when they were young, that they're still faster than others, even though they have slipped a bit.

Skills and strength may increase more than speed decreases to compensate. That's why guys move up in weight when they get older, not down.

And the OP said mid 30's, not 30s'. 34 is different to 31.

I guess it is possible. Maybe impossible was a reach. But I doubt a man can be ten years older, 20 pounds heavier, and still as quick as he was at 24.

    Good question.

As others have said, Sergio and Calzaghe for sure. But i think they are the exception and not the rule.

Also, there is the difference between hand speed, foot speed and reflexes. I think your legs and reflexes go first and hand speed is the last thing to go. For instance, RJ had blazing hand speed against Lacy. But his legs were like cement since he was 35.

    Ali.
Wasn't he 34 when he KOed Foreman? Some mighty fast lead rights in there. Not quite as fast as young Ali.
ANd even 1.5 years later some fast punches seen vs Frazier in their 3rd fight.

Of course even an Ali that was 50-75% as fast as young Ali was still pretty damn fast.

Hes kept his hand speed when moving up. Mayweather-Gatti fight is the fastest i think I've ever seen him. He threw like 8 piece combos in that fight.

He's not as fast as he was against Marquez or Mosley. He looks to be slowing down a lot actually. I don't know if you've seen him when he fought Judah but he was way faster. He was prime around that time.

Yeah but it was Gatti. Gatti was just tailor made for him to do that.

Impossible to be as fast as they were, they are just fighting slower fighters.
