Due to the ridiculous amount of belts on the market these days name some boxers who are billed as world champs/ex world champs or just perceived as either without actually winning a legit title.

    Povetkin

    Maidana

    Katsidis

When an entire race was excluded from challenging for the HW title in the 20's, that title was not legit. And is no better than an alphabet soup title.

edison miranda..however he should have been middleweight champ when he shattered arthur abraham's jaw with a punch (not a damn headbutt) and blood was just pouring out of his mouth...the ref called it, abraham didn't want to continue, and sauerland still told him to go through with it

Anyone hitting the number 1 spot with a belt round their waist is a champ to me.

The Fighter has made a lot of casual fans believe Ward was a world champ for beating Neary.

I agree Jack Johnson never fighting Langford, McVey or Jeanette for the title is really a shame.

Yeah, in his defense though, he'd already schooled all 3 of thier asses previously, numerous times between them

I believe the same regarding the heavyweight title up until the 1990's, as Eastern Bloc athletes were prohibited from competing for the title.
