I actually think that Pacquiao moves his head more than Floyd...and im not a *******. Actually im a bigger Floyd fan here. Check out the Hatton fight if you don't believe me.

I like both guys but PBF head movement is much better. Pac's head moves with his whole body more than PBF. He doesn't have bad head movement but he is not a defensive fighter and looks to land his offense more than worry about his defense . . . that is also not to say he doesn't have the capability to fight defensive in spots.

I get what your saying, Floyd's head movement is more subtle.

He can move his head, though I wouldn't compare it to Floyd Mayweather's upper body/head movement. Mayweather's better at it.

Pacquiao however uses his feet more than his upper body to avoid punches. But usually his footwork defense/head movement is jusy a byproduct of Pac positioning for a better punch.

    What?

Come'on man,Pacquiao's D is all in his legs.He isn't the hardest fighter to hit.His legs are his defense, not his head movement.

Floyd Jr uses head movement like know one else in the game today.Mayweather Jr flinches out of the way from punches with his head.

IMO Floyds head movement (defense) is on another level all together.

See Pacquiao and Mayweather against Juan Manuel Marquez if you dont believe me.:good

Please. Floyd still has the best head and upper body movements in Boxing. Manny can move his head from side to side, but Floyd does more than just move his head from side to side, he can actually pull his head back to avoid straight punches unlike Manny.

To me Floyd doesnt move his head a lot. I know he's great at moving his head to get out of the way of punches.

no doubt. I think that Manny moves his head more often, whereas Floyd moves his head to avoid punches.

Duh. Why move your head a lot if your opponent isn't trying to throw head punches? Especially when Floyd uses the high guard defense, he use it to protect punches that could land on the sides of his face, but he's smart enough to lean his head and upper body back to avoid straight punches that can easily gets through in between the high guard defense.

Come on dude? Duh...? Really, this wasn't meant to be a thread made to bash Floyd. I just noticed that Pacquiao, to me, seems to move his head more often than Floyd. That doesn't necessarily mean better, I get that. I worded that wrong. But is that not the point of a forum; gaining and sharing knowledge. This forum would be a lot better with out condescencion, and arrogance. I do appreciate your input however.

I get the point you made though, why move your head or anything 'a lot' if you don't have to. That's probably one of his ways of conserving energy. I see some boxers that don't move there head(berto for example), and then I read and heard about Pacquiao not moving his head and he does, a lot (to me). Then theres floyd, who only moves his head (again in my observation) in avoidance of a punch.

Or see Pacquiao and Mayweather against Hatton. Hatton landed more on Floyd, a defensive fighter, than he did Pacquiao and offensive in the first two rounds. Or both vs Mosley where Mosley landed less on Pac than Floyd. Only one year passed between the Mayweather and Pacquiao fight. two years passed from the Margarito fight to the Floyd fight so the Margarito victory isn't a better indication where Shane was at the time.

You're paying for the packaging and letting it fool you. manny's head movement is easier to notice because he doesn't know the meaning of being economical. Using as little movement as possible to avoid punches is the way to go. Good bobbing, weaving, and slipping should put you into position to counter not get away. It conserves energy and stamina to subtly get out the way.

Floyd has better footwork and positioning, so he doesn't need to move his head as much.
