Cotto and Margarito are the most overrated fighters on EastSide Boxing. Anyone that says any of these guys could have significantly boosted Floyds resume is delusional, a ******* or a Floyd hater.

Cotto was at 140 struggling with the likes of Corley, Torres and Malignaggi while Mayweather was abusing Gatti. Margarito was getting outboxed by Daniel Santos and green Paul Williams.

The 154lb Oscar De La Hoya that Floyd fought knocks both out within 8 rounds.

The only fighter of significance that could have boosted Floyd's resume during this period was a prime Paul Williams. The rest were Top Rank manufactured hype jobs.

So what if Margarito lost to Williams? Why are people so hung up on fighters losing? It's like saying "oh Tyson lost to Holyfield so I don't want to see him/ it's not worth fighting Lewis!" it's ridiculous. Also at the time Williams was perceived as a great fighter in the making, no shame losing that fight. Also Williams presented a completely different puzzle to Mayweather and I know many people who still wanted to see the fight.

Do I also need to remind you the Williams fight was made pretty much because Mayweather already had Oscar?

You can say there's nothing wrong with the Hatton or Hoya fights, that's fine I agree, but let's not pretend that's the fight people wanted. It's like your earlier comment that if he'd fought Tony people would say he ducked Baldo, wrong, nobody gave a **** about Baldo, I don't remember discussions on boards, magazines, TV or fans demanding that fight.

Also 2007-2008 Cotto was seen as a big threat. Basically Cotto, Mosley and Tony were fighting each other because Floyd wouldn't.

In the main I don't have an issue with Floyds opposition, I've hardly posted on the matter, but let's not pretend who he fought were bigger challenges than Mosley, Tony and Cotto at the time the fights could have been made mid 2000's.

The lineal champ who most didn't give a **** about.

I'd also like you to explain why you've been constantly calling Tony a cheater and yet have brought up Shane beating him when Mosley is also a proven cheat?

Also he was lineal ONE fight, it's not like the guy was truly proven, his record pre Floyd and post Floyd reflects this.

Even a blindman will hit a bullseye if he's lucky enough, that's Baldo and 20 years from now people will remember Tony, Cotto and Mosley, they'll be asking "Who the **** is Baldomir??"

He lost to Paul Williams and Daniel Santos. Get it right.

Hatton, DLH and Mosley were seen as big threats to Mayweather. Only difference was, they werent managed by Bob Arum.
The 154lb Oscar that Floyd fought would KO Cotto and Margarito. Oscar at that weight was the complete package, excellent jab, power, size, and boxing ability. Cotto was smaller, slower, lesser reach, and a one handed fighter. Margarito was a face first brawler. Both had been already exposed in their careers.

The Mosley that Mayweather beat is the same Mosley that brutalized Margarito. Only difference was, Margarito is the type of guy that gets outboxed by Daniel Santos, and Mayweather is a hofer.

Baldomir had victories over Clottey, Zab Judah, and Arturo Gatti.

And 20 years from now nobody is going to remember Margarito nor Cotto. Just like few remember Cuevas and Palomino. Thats their caliber.

Why do I need to bring up shane being a cheater. It doesnt change the fact that Margs is a cheater that should never fight again. History should remember Margs as a cheater that had no respect for the sport of boxing. He is a loser and the worst kind of fighter going into a ring with loaded gloves. And yes Shane was a cheater too.

Williams was Margarito's mandatory. Margarito had to fight Williams or he would have lost his belt. Williams actually chased Margarito for a little while and did what he had to do to become Margarito's mandatory.

Everyone wanted to see Mayweather vs Hatton as "Hatton applied pressure that Mayweather had never experience in his career". Mayweather vs DLH was one of the highest grossing fights ever so what do you mean nobody wanted to see that fight? It was billed as the fight that was going to save boxing. As soon as Baldomir beat Judah people were talking about how Mayweather ducked Baldomir by fightign Judah first. Nobody cared about Margarito until Arum declared that Mayweather turned down 8mil.

At the end of the day Mayweather offered Arum a contract to fight Cotto and Margarito which was more then reasonable which was turned down. He also called out Mosley who wanted to take his own vacation. Mayweather specifically moved up in weight to fight Hoya and Mosley and retire he didn't even need to move up to WW due to it being his weight if he wanted he could have maxed out at Jr welter and called it quits and nobody would said a word.

Right, but you're still not getting this so this is the last time I'm typing it.

AT THE TIME Tony wasn't a known cheater so that shouldn't be factored into why Floyd didn't fight him AT THE TIME:lol:

Read my history man, I gave Tony a load of grief when it came out about the wraps and felt he should be banned from boxing.

Michiganwarrior - I've told you before, you're pretty much universally accepted as the worst, most biased, ignorant posters on this forum. When guys in the classic or British forums talk about the ****wits in the general forum, they're referring to people like you.

You'll get no debate from me and the only reason I don't put you on ignore is because I love watching people tear you a new ass.

    Peace.

Like I said, just because you cant see flaws in a fighter and like to hype up B level guys like Margarito, Cotto and C level guys like Kessler, dont get mad at me when they are exposed.

Also Cotto wasn't going to fight Mayweather when he retired. Cotto was set to fight Margarito and De La Hoya. If Mayweather didn't retire his options would have been Mosley, Paul Williams, and maybe Margarito depending on if Arum wanted to put him up vs Mayweather or do a Cotto rematch.

I believe at 154 with Freddie Roach as his trainer he beats them both as well. Margarito hasn't proven anything at 154 other then a loss to Daniel Santos. He wouldn't be able to do what he does to smaller fighters to Hoya. Hoya would have better hand speed, better boxing skill, better trainer, and same size and strength vs Margo. Vs Cotto at 154 Hoya would have a big size and reach advantage over Cotto and a better trainer. I don't see Cotto being able to hurt Hoya and Cotto wouldn't be able to take away Hoya's jab.

Tony would have dropped that title in a heartbeat to fight Mayweather at any point, the payday was too big, the title was of secondary importance.

I have no issues with the Hatton fight, I wanted to see it, but after his showing vs Lazcano it was plain to see at 147 he wasn't as dangerous as others and I don't think most would have gave him a hope in hell vs Mosley, Tony or Cotto, I didn't.

I don't remember anyone talking about Mayweather ducking Baldomir, what I do remember were Mayweather fans justifying the fight whilst the rest of the world shook their heads. There were bigger threats out there.

Please point out where I said "No-one wanted to see the DLH fight.", And again biggest fight yes, biggest challenge? No, and that's what I'm talking about here.

"Money Mayweather" walked away from a career high payday of $8 million plus ppv upside to fight Tony who at the time was regarded as the biggest threat so please explain how he made "a more reasonable offer", it doesn't get more reasonable than your biggest payday.

He wanted a $10 million guarantee to fight Cotto when Arum was only willing to offer $7.

I don't believe I've ever used the term duck with Mayweather outside of Pacquiao and even that's usually on the wind up. Now you may use business or timing for reasons as to why Maywether doesn't have some better names on his record, some of which may have foundation, but it doesn't hide the fact those names aren't there, period, and don't get me started on his "retirement".

    Pick this up tomorrow.
