Mandana be sensible, this is turning into some sort of ESB witch hunt. billy im sure honestly believes that Burns can beat anyone at SFW or LW, whether thats actually likely to happen is another matter Mr W*arren and Morrison clearly do not share his enthusiasm or belief and that basically puts Billy into a position where he is damned if he does and damned if he doesnt, no?
my prefered opition is for Ricky to step up to Lightweight, this is being talked about as we speak, has soon has a decision is made i will let you know, won't be long though! That you happy lol
Be sensible for what? I don't see what the problem is with my post. Billy's a big boy in more ways then one and knows the fans are worried Ricky's credibility will take another huge hit if he doesn't take this fight. But i suppose i'm ignorant like i was with the Rogan post the other day..
In fairness I've said myself on here that I'm surprised how he makes the weight and that he did look a bit tight for the Cook fight - which upset Billy I might add. I guess what makes people wonder is that Ricky has been on a milk run courtesy of Morrison and Allegedly, and now there's a potentially threatening mandatory challenger it's all of a sudden time to move up. Added to that there are a few interesting lightweight fights domestically..... Can't blame people for being suspicious, and there's nothing wrong with expecting ''champions'' to fight the best fighters. Froch does it, Khan does it, why shouldn't Burns? The man himself admitted on Ringside that he wants the big fights, and although he didn't come out and say it appears to be frustrated at the direction his career is taking and wants to shut the critics up. What are they going to do if he wins the WBO title at lightweight and a fight with Marquez comes up? Turn it down and move back to 130? It's really **** poor promoting from Morrison and Allegedly, it's as if they don't want Burns to attempt to become a big name. Let him fight the best, if he loses, get back on the horse, beat a couple of contenders and another shot will be there. It's not as if a loss ruins your career, otherwise he'd be in the job centre as we speak.....
See this is why them **** defences make this move even worse. In space of a year you've had 3 **** poor defences when really one or two really decent fights would of made this less of a problem. I agree with BB he's a big SFW but at same time the other month after Cook fight there was all talk about wanting the Rocky Belt. I'm disappointed...
Burns has only ever fought one world class (at that weight) fighter in Martinez. He is a world champion in a weak division. How the **** does Evensen, Laryrea* and Cook prepare him for the world class (as he is supposed to be) at LW? Personally I don't think he'll be the best LW in Britain and I think Murray would give him a damn good fight too... pity had as good a chance as any at cleaning up SFW
