Its like they've purposely tried to go against the fans wishes each time: Evensen - noone wanted but 'agreed' that he deserved a easy defence, make money etc. Laryrea - shocking, commonwealth level choice. He was cheap and again allowed money to be made. Couldn't get Fana bla bla Cook - absolutely shocking, needn't say much more Eventually, they seem willing to fight Broner then Fana for the Ring "Ricky's gonna make history" etc. I just don't understand the logic
You see Billy, you make the mistake of thinking people who comment on here, are all muppets, When the truth is 95% are real Boxing fans, Now cut your bull**** and stop trying to mug us off and answer the damn question,,, Do you order Peeking Duck with your Chinese??
:good I feel bad for Ricky really do cos he's a lovely fella from what 53 said and what you see on TV. His rep is slowly getting tarnished by all this stupidity. What hurts the most is that night against Martinez the crowd and the fight was emotional. Scottish Boxing was back on the world scene. Felt like the nights Harrison fought at the Braehead.
I'm curious what the yanks will say, this will damage his reputation (if he has one) out there for avoiding one of their prospects. Maybe because it is not set to be in Scotland?
Feel a bit of a **** now, don't you, Dunky? But on topic, Billy... what a let down. After all your aggression and abuse, Ricky's not going to fight Broner? After such an awful year... Ricky should be ashamed of himself.
I just posted this on the sparring thread, but it's something to think about perhaps. Burns' recent opponents have been poor yes? Was that a deliberate tactic to see if he can make the weight without being in too much danger of losing? Or was it just to earn money and get a few defences under the lads belt?
I'm not sure this is.... Why not fight Broner in the States on HBO? Big money and a winnable fight. They always put up decent cash for an unbeaten kid with plenty of KO's, irrespective of whether he's any good or not. Unless they're worried about him getting his head turned :hey :deal Agreed. Probably a mix of everything.
I dunno Mand. It does seem an easy way to see if a fighter can still make the weight by throwing him in there with pushovers. I'm not Ricky's biggest fan, an the weight didn't seem a problem when he was calling out a 38 year old Fana. But you never no.
