And that IS going to help settle the dispute over who gets the first crack at Junior, Jose??

    Bullsh1t.

We can argue all day, Sulaiman does what he wants.

Didn't the WBC make him Emeritus champ when they stripped him, meaning he can get a shot any time he wants?

Anyway, Martinez is the Ring champ, he doesn't have to do what the WBC states. He seems desperate to fight Jr though, he might have to take this fight.

he was supposed to fight chavez jr next, yet the disgrace that is the wbc keeps postponing it. Let him step up and take his beating.

Tho I agree championship belts in 2011 are pretty meaningless in terms of how great the fighter holding the title is.
You have to admit the WBC has a different meaning to Latin fighters. (Tradition)

This is the reason Sergio cares & wants his belt.

AHah..Keeping Sexy Sergio away from jr...

    Then they'll find something else.

They damn know too well Jr is in for a short nightmare (under 6 rounds) if he fights sexy Sergio.

    :-(
It's just an all around shitty situation. Just three months ago, Sulaiman was busy pretending that Lemieux-Rubio wasn't an actual eliminator and that Martinez would automatically get the first shot:

This is why I wanted Martinez to just fight Rubio instead of Barker so the WBC couldn't pull these shenanigans.

Rubio: working class - worked his way up the rankings
Martinez: elite class - tries to fight the best not-so-dangerous opponents at 160 who have somewhat of a name either at 154/160
Chavez Jr: nothing class - was handed the WBC MW belt after beating.. Zbik?!

Go Manfredo, Go!! That guy's from the REAL working class, train like Rocky buddy! Junior is no Creed!!

Last time I heard he was working at a Dunkin Donuts in Providence...

Edit: there are no 'dangerous' opponents left for Martinez at 160! LOL

The worst thing is, the WBA and WBC don't even care anymore if the boxfans see trough their transparent bullsh*t.
If they want to protect a beltholder against much better fighters, they just go for it.
If they want to strip a fighter to give the belt to another (countryman), no one is going to stop them.
If they want to make a "Bronze", "Scrap metal", "Irregular" or "Pre Recess" belt they just do it and ask sanctioning fees for it.

    Sanctioning bodies suck...

 Manfredo's not working at an actual Dunkin Donuts; he's a janitor at the Dunkin Donuts Center, the arena where many of his fights have been held.

Because everybody lands on Chavez Jr, and while Rubio is as predictable/basic as it gets with his style(primarily a one-two headhunter), he is one of the better punchers at Middleweight. Unless Jr's defense miraculously improves, Rubio is a major threat to him based on that alone. Jr's chin has been pretty solid against lesser punchers that land a lot on him, but I doubt he can take a lot of shots from someone like Rubio.

I knew Arum and the WBC would do anything they possibly could to keep Junior away from Martinez. Shameless.

Sergio should just demand his (legally obligated) shot just to see what they come up with next. I predict that Arum says he's not a big enough star and Chavez dumps the belt. Then they'll probably try and get him a WBA title at 160 - there are three of them after all.

After Golovkin beats N'kijam and unifies the "regular" and "interim" titles (I feel dirty having just typed that) they'll immediately bring back a third belt and Jr will face some scrub for it, becoming a two-time world champion.
