load of old bollocks this. blatent duck and a real shame. go on billy. tell us some bull**** about how burns will be a beast at lightweight. last week he was the fastest and strongest super featherweight in the world, this week he can't make the weight. yeah. horse ****.
'Ricky will be the first Scot to hold The Ring belt'-Billy Yeah, so much more impressive than say, Benny Lynch winning THE World title. 'Ricky is the fastest super featherweight'-Billy But ****ed at the weight and not wanting to take on the first genuine challenge of his (frankly pathetic) title run. I really like Ricky, but like Khan, the team around him are making him look bad.
In todays Daily Record there is a small piece stating that Broner is virtually a done deal and then he will move up, cant find it on there website but there is a definately a small article in todays paper. :huh Can any other scottish poster please confirm this so i know im not tripping balls.
To be honest as everyone has said ricky is a top bloke comes across brilliant on Ringside. So be honest they want to earn the lad as much easy money as possible. Just come out and say it. But as one poster said dont take Boxing fans for mongs cos they aint and they see what is going on
Look @ the crowd for the Layrea fight (not sold out), Even the Casuals are seeing the blag. If people who ain't hardcore fans see that Ricky's fighting poor oppo then it makes this situation even worse. The people around Ricky should be ashamed of themselves for way his first year as Champion has been handled.
Well I remember being on the Liverpool card was supposed to build up his fanbase. So when a competitive fight comes along you turn it down
Sadly yes. Unless he steps straight in against a champion, or at the very least Mitchell I'll never support him again, in fact I'll root against him in every fight. Even if he does step into a Mitchell fight I'll still be pissed off.
To be fair I've been amazed he's managed to make the weight for so long, if he is weak at the weight then the sensible thing is to move up!
BURNS AFTER DARK? I was made aware of this article by @kevinhoward85 on Twitter, http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/boxing/14809598.stm, that talked about the possibility of WBO junior lightweight titlist Ricky Burns vacating that title and moving up to 135 pounds. It was widely reported last week that Burns would defend his crown against the aforementioned Broner in The Problems hometown of Cincinnati on November 26th as the featured fight on HBOs Boxing After Dark. Regarding this situation, Gomez stated on Tuesday afternoon, "The first time I heard about it was this morning on the internet and I called Paco [Valcarcel, President of the WBO] and Paco said that as far as he knows, everything is good. Everything remains the same. So were going to continue to go through the motions. They accepted the deal and [Burns promoter] Frank ****** accepted the deal Richard Schaefer offered him. So I dont know if theres anything different or not. I have no idea. "Were moving along as if we have a deal. In fact, just over the weekend, [Golden Boy COO] David Itskowitch was working on the provision of services and I saw an email from him to one of Franks attorneys and it just said, Yeah, we need a couple of changes. But were moving forward as if we have a deal. But its news to us." OK, but if Burns does make the decision to ditch his belt, the vacant title could be up for grabs between Broner and another Golden Boy client, Eloy Perez, who impressively halted Daniel Jimenez in two explosive heats this past Friday night. Perez is rated number four by the WBO. "He looked great. It was fantastic; there was a great showing," Gomez said of Perezs outing. "I thought Azuquita was going to give him a little more of a test but he just looked great and he went after him. He went after him and didnt let go. "If Burns is off, [Perez] might be the next one in line for the title," continued Gomez. "We would have to talk to them and ask if theyre interested, if they want to do it or not. He would be the next one in line, Im guessing. If not, well see. Well see who else is out there. Well have to follow the rules of the WBO, see what they tell us to do." from steve kim nobody knows what is going on
