I agree with your overall point mate, but if they were to come out and say that, wouldn't they effectively be taking boxing fans for mongs anyway, as they're admitting that the fights are pretty crap?

    :?

So they're not really in a position to do that, as judging by the responses in this thread, no one wants to see crap fights anyway, so there goes the easy money.

Obvious they're trying for the vacant WBO strap after JMM vacates

To be honest, I'd have little problem with it if not for Billy talking ****. It'd just be a domestic super feather moving up to take on a top European lightweight, with the winner going onto bigger fights.

But the fact Ricky actually has a chance in a weak division....then his team swerve a fight with a fairly dangerous but genuinely beatable and not too good opponent to move up for a less meaningful fight :-(

The last year has a been a waste of the fans time, investing time, emotion and thought on Rickys career progression.

Most importantly it's been a waste of time for Ricky, in good form, who has taken on three totally meaningless fights he has learned nothing from. Shame, he is a real nice lad and a good, solid operator, who doesn't deserve the backlash he will inevitably get which is seemingly through no fault of his own.

  4. Jeff, but he should have been honest from the start and 3 defences against, lets face it crap opponents then move up is Bull**** mate, its a lack of respect to the boxing fans Jeff

How much is Burns being paid for this? $200k? I say take the fight/money, say he does loose come back and go to 135. I don't think it makes any sense to turn a pay down like this, what is the splits for champ/challenger? Isnt he entitled to 70% or something similar so he must of been offered easily the biggest payday of his career..

It hasn't gone to purse bids so I doubt he will be getting 70%.

    I ****ing knew it.

Billy and Wazza And Morrison can all go **** themselves. 3 gimmes and run before a proper opponent comes along. Shocking to say the least. How can fans be treated so poorly time and again with these antics. Billy all the **** you gave me in the past and it looks like I was the one in the right. Go **** yourself...

I understand that, thats why he must of been offered a very good purse to take the fight as he is entitled to 70% or there abouts if it goes to purse. win/win sitruation for him I would think.

Damn, Broner-Burns would've been a good fight, and I don't think Broner would have had it easy at all like some people are saying.
