He has had personal struggles in his life in the not too distant past (death of his brother by murder) is very young (37) and his knowledge of boxing and baseball is really amazing. He puts together words without much thought, is extremely articulate and does not use fillers or many analogies to make his points. In making points he quickly references specific fights and fighters in the past.

I think he is the best and most unbiased commentator hands down. He is one articulate guy. Thoughts?

I have no problem with Max Kellerman whatsoever. I think he's a good commentator and don't find him cringeworthy or anything, he's a welcome addition to the HBO team. Talks like Kermit though.

His radio show was the best when he was in NYC.

I still listen to the podcast of his show in LA, but it's not as entertaining.

You can tell he really likes the sport, and is as objective as a fan can be. He likes to point out certain intricacies the casual fan may not pick up, or give other sides of the stories in terms of what's going on in the ring in front of him that aren't so obvious. As you said, he's really articulate as well.

I have no idea why people dislike him so much.

I'll take him over Larry Merchant.

I was very impressed with him after the Berto fight, when he spoke about the influence that Al Haymon has in terms of getting his fighters spots on HBO. Not many would of spoke about Haymon in that manner.

Don't understand the flack that Kellerman gets, there's nothing wrong with him. (Except the occasional ball licking of RJJ, but if I got to sit next to him having idolized him, I'd probably be pretty generous in my comments too.)

Kellerman is pretty good but he can also strike you as a complete tool sometimes, and some of his lines seem to be written before the fight starts, he also lacks the passion lampley has and sucks up to jones to much.
Im neutral on the guy ,he seems an honest man and I think he does care about boxing.
    So he has potential.

He was really hated a couple of years ago when he seemed a really bland and annoying replacement for the crazy-ass Merchant.

Meanwhile Merchant got completely senile and Kellerman got better. Right now I have no problem with him.

Hes all right. I used to really dislike the guy but hes settled down a bit. Sometimes he tries too hard and his **** sound really scripted and rehearsed.

I'd rather listen to Kellerman sucking up to RJJ than a cringeworthy Merchant getting owned by RJJ on air (or getting owned by Steward too)

I really like his post fight interviews. He asks questions that i would ask. He doesn't just suck up to a fighter like others would.

Never understood the hate. 10 times better doing interviews than Merchant.

Yeah I mean I think RJJ is one of his favourites and he points out things that a lot of people just don't get: His main defense was his reflexes so he cannot compete anymore since that went years ago. Everyone has favourites and as a fan, he speaks highly of him.

I disagree that his lines are written before the show. I think he is that witty and poignant that he really comes up with things on the fly; a gift not many people have. To be that accomplished and to get to where he did at his age; I think is pretty freaking cool to say the least.

Boxing needs more passionate commentators and he sure brings it and MEANS it.
