And what boxing should be about. In todays boxing we get young promising prospects less through the safest path throgh a title which then gets us hard core fans asking questions and questioning them. But when Ortiz lost it was no ordinary loss, he quit. Alot of ppl counted him out and Golden Boy knew it. Then they put him in a series of fights he was suppose to win but when it showed he was gun shy against Peterson they decided to cash out. Berto vs Ortiz was made, two young good fighters, something that's rare.( If it wasn't rare fights like Juanma/Gamboa Angulo/Kirkland would have happened) And in that throwback fight Ortiz revived him self as a top competitor, which landed him in another throw back fight. A young hungry fighter challenging a current dominating champion. Because as good and exciting as some of Pacs and Floyds previous opponents were, they do not fit the "young hungry challenger" title which is what makes boxing good, and what would be happening if there want so many organizations flooding the sport with"champions".

    agreed.

back in the day, a loss was a learning experience not the death of a career usually.

    berto came back also recently.

Hopkins/Brother Nazim... I am sure it was used before them, but I don't remember this becoming so thoroughly used until they were saying it about Kelly Pavlik. It's sort of like the check hook thing, Manny Steward/Mayweather didn't invent the term, but the over usage of it years after came as a result of their comments after Hatton got KO'd.
