Here's another bit of sparring footage Dempsey here sparring with Big Bill Tate in the run up to the Willard - this is the real Dempsey - a real wildcat

and here from 2:06 to 2:42 there some nice training footage of Manassa Jack again during the same period again looking great on his feet so quick and bouncy all moving - without seeing the great Harry Greb on film (well aside from the mock sparring with Philadelphia Jack) it's kinda how I always pictured his style in my minds eye - a great blend speed, power, busy attacking style from distance and in close - always moving great footwork and great dipping and rolling always on the attack

Dempsey was a beast...Roberto Duran reminded me of Dempsey and so did Tyson, I think Dempsey had footwork more like Tyson but fast and good at cutting off the ring...the long count was a good example of his hand speed despite his apparent ring rust and his killer instinct was shown vs Willard,Firpo and most of his fights

    Great vid!

I was wondering, why all time boxers did their road work often carying stick in their hands. I suppose that it was for habit to keep your elbows close to the body. True?

Thanks Rocky, for showing this small segment of my man JD starting at 2:44 Minutes of his fight with Firpo wherein he frees his left-hand and shoots a barrage of left hook-uppercuts so fast and powerful and LETHAL.
This folks, is the young tigerish Jack Dempsey of his prime,NOT the old
Dempsey, after a three-year layoff, slow and rusty of the Tunney fights.
    Indeed a pantherlike man-killer !:good

P,no matter how many times I defend Dempsey from his ill-informed detractors, the truth shall prevail. To your way of thinking, every time a poster spouts garbage about Jack Dempsey's true abilities, I should refrain
from telling the facts, therefore the NAYSAAYERS WIN. If you find my posts
repetitive P, I can live with that.. Cheers.:hi:

Keep 'em comin' Burt. The naysayers need to be converted. Dempsey at his best was deadly and a match for any HW champ past or present.

Playing tennis and handball as part of training....interesting. Good cardio without beating up the body.

What was he saying to that black woman, who was evidently his camp cook? Telling her how to scramble his eggs or something?

That black cook was the wife of one of Dempsey's sparring partners, who
    was employed as a cook...

He didn't beat Sharkey. Should have been a DQ win for Sharkey
