i know ray leonard, hagler, hearns are hall of famers. 3 of the greatest champions of all time.
against nigel benn, chris eubank, steve collins at middleweight, super middleweight what would the results be if they fought each other.
for me its a clean sweep for the americans, although the british fighters were very durable and had great power, just lacked the skills i think.
u can tell me if this is a stupid thread as well ;)

:lol:not a stupid thread and it depends how they're matched. leonard at 160 and above was not the same dynamo as before. hearns, despite still carrying all his skill, most of his speed and a lot of his power was more vulnerable and less durable at the higher weights. hagler is the only lock i have in this one.

depending on how you match up the fighters, i think each of the british fighters COULD snag a win based on styles

At their best I'll go with the fab 3 against any of the Brit pack although Eubank/Benn have punchers chances against Hearns

Why have you not mentioned better middleweights, such as Jock McAvoy or Len Harvey
    or Tommy Milligan.?

Benn would've killed Leonard or Hearns.

Collins would've been schooled by Leonard and massacred by Hearns.

Eubank would've powered Leonard out of there, and out-jabbed Hearns (similar to Tyson out-jabbing Tucker, Holyfield out-jabbing Douglas and Hamed out-jabbing Kelley) but been peppered with hooks and uppercuts to head and body once 'in', and out-worked/pointed.

Hagler beats them all but has a difficult time with Collins.

LOL, I am all for old school over the new boys, but McAvoy and Milligan are simply not even in Collins league, and Harvey, unlike the three modern fighters, always seemed to find a way to lose the big one...

Hagler should go 3-0...I think Eubank would prove to be a tough out. Over 12-15 I think Hagler would have to dig deep to pull it out. I will take a Hagler SD/MD in this fight.

Hearns- Should beat Collins. I would favor him over Benn in a clear decision, but Benn would certainly have a punchers chance. I would not be surprised to see Benn score a stoppage in this fight. I would lean towards a Hearns win, but the outcome to me is certainly not a foregone conclusion. I think Eubank wins a close decision or stops Tommy in the later rds. so 2-1 for me

SRL- Should still be quick enough to score a decision over Collins...benn destroys him within 5...Eubank stops him late while pitching a shutout on the scorecards!!!! so 1-2

all of the brits here are the bigger fighters in these matchups. hagler should beat all of them but hearns and leonard might have trouble because of the size difference.

Eubank outjabbing Hearns has to rank up there.

? Eubank was eerily good at avoiding full impact of long left jabs and would shift in with own jab so beautifully, untelegraphed at the right times and double it like lightning

Eubank didn't do too well against jabbers - Malinga/Rocchigiani/Watson - this would be a whole new class of jabber, no way Eubank gets out the way of Hearns jab

    No, I am not.

To start of with, very few fighters are Great, even fewer are British, to use the word to describe the likes of Milligan, McAvoy, Harvey, Benn, Collins and Eubank is really pushing it. All were on world terms in the good/very good bracket.

Milligan looks good beating a Rosenbloom who in terms of his career, was a relative novice. He was a fair fighter, having the fights with Zivic and beating a Kid Lewis near the end of his career. He was also brought along properly learning his trade. A good solid fighter.

McAvoy was slightly better than Milligan, but again the top notch fights that truly define his career, are written down as brave defeats, not wins.

Len Harvey was better still, but again like McAvoy, he could not top his era worldwide, even for a short period of time.

Eubank and Benn fought in a different era, where different skills were needed. But both had better records against the best of their era, and Benn arguably had a more successful stint in the States than the three above.
