Maidana: Give me a tweet if you win, Paul

    WBA world champion Marcos Maidana told Paul McCloskey to ‘tweet’ him if he beats Breidis Prescott on Saturday night so they can arrange a world title fight.

    El Chino revealed the pair nearly reached a fight agreement on Twitter earlier this year and stressed he and ’Dudey’ had already agreed to fight in the future.

    “With McCloskey it’s been a special situation as we met on Twitter and a fight between us was close to being made because of that. Rather than trash talking we respectfully said that we’d fight someday. If he wins on Saturday a fight between us can be made. I am used to fighting overseas and I know that I have many fans in Ireland. So I would have no problem defending my title in Ireland. First I will defend the title on September 23 in Argentina to stay busy. I’m confident I will win this fight and if Paul wins we can talk then.”

    “I would face anybody in the ring. I’ve proved that already. I have faced tough opponents like Kotelnik, Ortiz, Cayo, Khan and Morales in the last two years. I don’t mind who wins. McCloskey has a difficult style, very elusive. And Prescott is an aggressive fighter with long reach, so it’s an interesting match. But I go with Paul on this one.”

    “Paul’s fight with the Queen ended in controversy so he has a legitimate rematch claim.Prescott destroyed Khan so It should be Khan who should ask for that rematch and not the other way around. Either way I am most deserving of a rematch and if they want to fight him they have to beat me.”

    no chance this fight happens. not enough money it it. HBO won't touch McCloskey.

    Maidana will get more money fighting in the States than going to Ireland to fight McCloskey without HBO's backing.

    Maidana will be getting at least £250,000 a fight. Where does that cash come from McCloskeys camp. Sky Sports and a sold out Oddesey doesn't leave much left.

    McCloskey will never fight a Showtime/HBO fighter again.

    it does to be able to afford to bring Maidana over.

    HBO are not going to buy a McCloskey vs Maidana in the US, so there not going to buy it in Belfast at 2pm there time.

    well rob if he can go and fight in argentina with no HBO why not fight McCloskey? If Pauls as bad as you make out then it should be just a keep busy one for maidana

    Does he definitely get a guaranteed minimum £250,000 per fight...or are you guessing? Does that apply to his stay busy fight in Argentina? I thought Khan was on his own to organize the McCloskey fight. I'd be surprised if Maidana does have any guarantee for that sort of money...especially as Khan still has the proper WBA belt.

    Im not sure Maidana is just in it purely for the money, if hes keen to fight McCloskey, money has probably been discussed, either that or maybe its not the be all and end all for him.
