... less then a year before Calzaghe took him to school, looking completly superior skill wise? :think

After all, Trinidad was supposed to be a top level fighter, right? Was Jones not as shot as his fans likes us to believe, or was perhaps Trinidad past it as well? That would mean a "shot to ****" Jones defeateted a "shot to ****" Trinidad, and we can all continue to sleep well at night.

Feel free to school me. I am just curious to hear if there is a rewrite of boxing history going on among some fans.

Well, Tito had fought twice in 5 years leading up to the fight and was at his best between 147-154.

Both men were years past their best.

Tito was fat, out of shape, and way past it himself. You're making it seem as if a shot to **** RJJ beat a prime Tito!

Trinidad fought most of his career 147-154. Jones started at 160 but at 175 when Trinidad was still at 147. Even if Trinidad was just simply past it, he had no chance against a proven puncher at 170 and above especially when he couldn't handle Hopkins power at 160.

Tito was in even worse shape than Jones. He had fought 3 times in the previous 6 years, the last outing being a shutout loss to Wright at 160. The fact that Jones didn't stop the extremely faded, inactive, 170lbs version of Trinidad in the first half of the fight, and in fact lost a few rounds to him, was as good a sign as any that he was shot to pieces. Prime Roy destroys even prime Trinidad.

This is a fight where you can see Roy is clearly shot. He has no foot movement, he lays on the ropes for extensive periods of the fight and he couldnt stop Tito.

A prime Roy fighting that version of Tito stops in him in 2 rounds.

Shot to **** un-juiced Jones beat up on a shot to **** fat bloated tito.

Much the same as an un shot hopkins beat up on a fat bloated shot to **** winky and gets wordly praise for it <insert headscratch smiley>

It is more a question of curiosity really. Boxing fans tends to use the word "shot" when it is convenient for their bias. Trinidad was 35 at the time, which means he was old enough to have lost some of his speed and power, but he should not have been a complete zombie.
