Never posted on ESB before but have to express my disgust at this. I am a big fan of burns since I watched his debut and always felt he had the the skills and ability to win world titles but this has to the worst title reign ever. Ricky has the chance of a groundbreaking fight against an verhyped fighter where he will not only get massive exposure but a good payday. Even a narrowloss would see ricky in a better situation than moving up. I am a scotsman and I have to say billy nelson talks absolute shite. Theres defending you fighter and having belief but if you talk the talk you gotta walk the walk. Obviousely this is an if but moving up to lightweight right now is one mental decision.

sorry dont like to rude but as a fan this would be utterly disappointing

This whole thing is a joke. Why move up to a division that is
ten times better than the one you're in after one meaningful fight?
Chance to Unify/Ring number 1 or move up and get sparked by
Kevin Mitchell at Domestic/Blag World Title level? **** off VVarren
    and his cronies.

What I don't get is that he's lost before, so another loss clearly isn't the end of the world. he can step up to LW and face John Murray, etc... so why the hell not do it?

Billy you have shown once again how much of a clown you are its your fault that Ricky is getting the flack not Ricky as you are the one who comes on hear telling everyone how great you are and how you got the best camp in the country but the moment there is a true challenger you want to move up you and his managemet have now damaged his stock and now his true fans will question things now . now billy I am a big **** as far as your concerned fat boy

I just hope Billy is gonna pull one huge rabbit out of the hat here, but if its a fight with Mitchell? I will puke.

Everyone who knows me here knows that me & Mik have followed Burns from the very start of his career here, had the greatest night of my boxing life at the Kelvin Hall cheering Burns to victory against Martinez.. its my mate who done the Burns montage, & uploaded the clip of Hagler telling everyone Burns would be a world champ, so Im hurting just now at whats been going on, been defending Burns title defences whilst hoping the 'big one' was just around the corner.

& alll for this? I want to defend it, but I bloody cant. Cos theres no defending it. Cant believe its come to this, from talking about the ring belt to a domestic dust up with Mitchell or Murray. "But its scotland v England & will be a great build up!" well whoopee ****in do, but I have seen enough of those in my lifetime. I wanted Burns to fight Broner in america on HBO, but looks like its back to domestic matters & Burns & Mitchell on ringside talking about how they respect each other but business is business & we will see who is best on these shores "blah blah ****ing BLAH!!!"

Yup, Im shocked, & angry at these latest events. Hopefully Frank & nelson shock me with an announcement that blows everyone out of the water, but I aint holding my breath.

& although it pains me like **** to say this, Im an honest poster who never tires of telling anyone that I "tell it like it is" so here goes.

Everyone who is saying poor Ricky getting led astray by big bad fwank & Billy nelson... Rickys an adult who can make his own decisions. No-one can make him give up the belt, the final decision is his.

Your very correct with your last statement but when you've seen what i have with certain people making weight you'd do well to listen to avice.

Billy, I have no doubt in my mind that Ricky would have beat Broner, thats why Im angry just now. I just want to see him get his defining fight, but I fear like Scotty before him, its never going to happen now.

Rickys in his prime just now IMO, & if his career is allowed to fizzle out duking it out with the best of the brits after beating a guy like Martinez? That would break my bloody heart. I fear history is going to repeat itself, & that elusive biggie is being allowed to slip from Rickys grasp, & its bloody annoying me as such a big fan.

I'm going to hold fire until this lightweight fight is annouced it better not be a unknown or a washed up fighter. Burns is 28 and a world champion lets start testing him to his fullest

I can understand that, but with that in mind you don't take 3 gimme fights when you think weight is an issue.
