They did allot more than touch him with their jabs, they controlled him for periods with them, that's why quite allot of people thought Eubank lost those fights and in the Watson rematch he had to come from behind to win

If Hagler gets the decision over Leonard, then there would have been momentum for Hagler Benn.

In the real universe, the British fighters would have been matched up with faded versions of the fab 4.

You're a Eubank fan so you have an element of bias, the fact is most people had Watson beating him and quite a few had Roch/Malinga beating him. And they all did it with the jab and no Eubank's defense isn't half as good as you think it is

Eubank has a chance of a late KO against HEarns, he hasn't got a hope in hell of boxing with him

 

Benn didn't put himself in a position to fight for real titles until 1990, Nunn, McCallum, Kalambay, Graham all would likely have come first and dethrone a past prime Hagler

what part though? i agree that many/most people had watson winning. i also agree that while eubank has solid defense it was based a great deal in reflexes and wasn't multi layered enough at the top level

Eubank clearly out-jabbed Malinga and clearly won eight rounds. You'd need to be a ****** to suggest otherwise.

I don't think I saw a single Watson jab land on Eubank.

The vast majority feel Eubank beat Rocchi convincingly, although the southpaw right jab was timed well a couple of times.

 

I disagree, he blocked a lot against Benn and Calzaghe by getting his right hand up against the side of his forehead after making them miss or missing himself.

Hearns and Collins are the most vulnerable of the 6. Even though the Brits are naturally bigger, I think the Americans are thinking man's fighters. It depends on the match ups also.

 

Benn was certainly talked about as a future opponent for Hagler.

People were thinking about the sucession even then.

 

Surely not against Hagler, he didn't debut until '87 and I don't think at the time of the Watson loss in '89 he'd yet fought against his first top10 ranked opponent

 

I think that his potential was being talked about fairly early in his career.
