Take him to any gym and you'll find some kid who's had his life turned round by boxing. I hope it goes well for him and the rest of your family.
Yeah saw this tonight perfect timing will hit her with this and some of the Articles Mandana dug out in a week or two once its died down abit!
nothing in boxing or life is black and white mate, just ask Chris Eubank, Bernard Hopkins or Martin Murray lets not be to judgemental without knowing the lad or the circumstances not excusing his behaviour just wanted a bit of help in trying to sort him out and I got it! I'm sure if I do manage to take him he will get hammered a bit in sparring at first, didn't we all? even sugar ray leonard went home from his first session at the gym in tears but you get your head down, learn the basics, develop a bit of a style then start to give out a few hammering's of your own that's when the bug really bites and thats what makes this sport so great!
This is all you need to say: Twenty one years Audley Harrison was in a young offender's institute. Twenty one years later he's in the UK's premier celebrity ballroom dancing tournament. You should buy a copy of Audley's autobiography. It's called REALISING THE DREAM. It's all there.
its a good tactic without boxing audley would probable be standing on a corner in london screaming about "his density and dream" into a megaphone like any standard nutter, thanks to boxing he gets to do it on tv
I was on way to work today and was thinking boxing and read about the stupidity that went on in Edmonton the other day and thought 'How would Bernard Hopkins be received by the young people'. If i was the person in Parliament dealing with these issues i'd roll out the red carpet to him and other Villain's turned Hero's. Get them over for a week and let them enter the school's/youthclubs. I know it would come at a price but the price is worth it when your saving a person's life.
You misunderstand. I was a little *******, I was a fighter. and boxing showed me how to channel that aggression. I am not so different from those of a more difficult background. I started boxing late aswell, but there was no bigger wakeup call than tough sparring with great boxers. It humbled me good. That was my point.
Give her a look at Barry Mcguigan's autobiography. Was reading it while on Holiday. Not only is it a great read but he very eloquently puts out an argument for the positive aspects of boxing and also emphasises the improvements in safety within the sport!
