So because he chooses not to cover something (that, incidentally, was mostly conjecture by Thomas Hauser - funny how his name pops up again), he's irredeemably biased?

    Come on...

He's never written much about the business.

No I see from other comments a fundamental ignorance about the guy's work. You may dislike or disagree with him, but there is no evidence of bias beyond what any writer has.

Any writer that claims they have no bias is liable to be more biased than anyone else.

Well I will certainly stop buying it. The Ring is pretty much perfect as it is so why can't Golden Boy leave it alone?

Tbh, I really like Fischer as a written journalist but his slightly whiny voice means that is where he should stay imo. I always like the videos he and Rosenthal does where Doug rants/rambles for half an hour then Rosenthal gets 30s at the end:D

The magazine, though has definitely diminished in quality over the years and so the only thing that will really be missed is the legacy and the nostalgia of the rankings. But even they don't seem to be respected that much by fighters anyway and there seem to be so few champions (couple more recently) that they shouldn't be missed.

The real reason Collins et al are getting fired is that circulation has dropped while the website has gotten bigger and bigger. It’s **** all to do with Collins having “backbone”. He doesn’t.

Jesus though, I hope Fischer fires Rosenthal’s useless ass. He’s possibly the worst boxing writer I’ve ever read. The only guy I hate as much is BN’s Matt Christie.

The mag has just got a new editor and relocation:lol:Thread title is just a tad misleading.
I stopped buying ages ago but may give the new one a go.Hopefully its not as dull as previous issues.

My main problem is he writes like a 16 year old who’s just discovered alliteration. His write-up for Mitchell-Murray was like some sort of homo-erotic short story. It’s full of alliteration and completely without taste. From this week’s issue:

“Khan’s senses whisked as his body folded and collapsed.”

All that really says is: “Khan was knocked senseless.”

Basically he tries way too hard to sound clever and erudite. Plus his sentence structure is frequently appalling and he’s got no grasp of narrative pacing.

My slant on it was that the more Golden Boy interferes, the more the credibility of those rankings falls. I guess we will find out in the next edition if Broner/Perez and Mayweather/Ortiz are for Ring belts:lol:
