I'll list the guys I think could have given vitali real trouble (assuming a natural timeline develops) Liston (put this against vitali of the byrd fight) Frazier (put this against the vitali of the peter fight) Norton (these 3 are post 2008) Foreman Young Holmes (consider this was 10 years after FOTC, that'd be vitali in 2018 lol). I'm not saying these guys all beat Vitali, i'm saying those not on this list definitely lose to vitali. Now the Liston of the Ali fight was slightly faded and if Vitali fought him on the back foot he could well force a frustration stoppage. If Vitali tried slugging out with him he gets ktfo. Frazier is like everything Peter wanted to be. there were a few times when peter troubled vitali with body shots and frazier would have had great success there, however this is a very difficult stylistic matchup for smoking joe. but prime joe vs comeback vitali, that's a win for frazier in my books. Prime norton vs prime vitali is a 50/50 matchup, so prime norton vs comeback vitali i'd have to give the edge here to kenny. Prime george flattens prime vitali, so prime george has no problems with comeback vitali at all. Prime Byrd gave green vitali hell and young is similar enought hat I could picture him beating comeback vitali over the distance. Prime Holmes vs a 2018 Vitali is quite laughable and no explanation is needed. All in all Vitali would have had quite a successful career and probably would have been the world champ, but after losing his licence in 67, I couldn't envision him coming back as well as Ali did, even if he beat joe, he wouldn't last too long as champ IMO.
How about we stick Clay/Ali in the Dempsey or Louis era? (Guaranteed undefeated) Hard to say... But I stay out of these discussions.
I think Vitali could compete in any era, more so than Wlad. But Liston, Ali, Frazier and Foreman are among the best ever, and I'm not sure Vitali is.
You have lost your mind with your Vitali-worship. Ali would school Vitali 10 out of 10 times. You see, you're forgetting that Vitali has never fought a live, fast opponent, and the one time he did he got outboxed by Chris Byrd. Adamek will school Vitali too.

You've done stepped outta your mind son....... Byrd was the best defensive fighter of the late90s-early 2000s. He was as slick as the preSpinks Ali. Not comparing the 2, that's boxing blasphemy since Ali had the edge in ring generalship X3, speedX2, power(slightly) and a prime Ali dances around either Klitschko and wins 8/10 times. But when I watch and rewatch, and re rewatch the Byrd Vitali fight, I damn near come to tears.........I didn't see Byrd win a ****ing round, and Vitali hurt Byrd more than 3X in the fight, and that was with a TORN ROTATOR CUFF. I had Vitali shutting Byrd out when he quit(corner stopped it, damn Szudnek). Vitali shoulda fought Byrd with his L jab/hook the rest of the way, and let nature take it course, win, lose, or draw.
