Would Floyd get credit for beating Pacquiao?

What the heck being dramatic? Choosing to be blind? Pacquiao vs Mayeather fight is one of the most demanded fight in history of boxing. People of all ages talks about it. People will give credit regardless who would win. If people thinks Floyd would be the clear winner in this fight, the demand for this fight to happen would not be high. Even Bieber wants this fight. You seen countless threads about this fight, you seen many times media have talked about this fight(hoping it would happen)

I would give credit to Floyd if he win.

As I told if he would beat the great Pacquiao, Floyd would gets tons of credit, his atg rankings would get higher.

 

Mosley destroyed the number one wleterweight before he fought Floyd.

Oscar had a 15+ pound weight advantage, as well as a height and every contractual advantage in the fight and he got no credit.

Hatton was undefeated and prime and he got no credit

Baldomir hadn't lost in 9 years and was the legit Lineal champion and Floyd gets no credit.

**** and people claimed he was avoiding all of these guys before he fought them also

 

Stop overrating these wins.

Except for *****s, all thinks that Floyd's resume is not great, all thinks that Floyd is a cherry picker.

 

I still want the fight don't worry and I think most people will rate Floyd fairly after the fight, but I think he'll still get some heat. I've heard some people say that they would still rank Manny ahead of Floyd even if he won

Maybe i'm being a little dramatic, but I don't think everybody will give him full credit for it. **** people were anticipating the Mosley fight also and the Oscar fight, but we still see the result afterward.

But how has Mosley looked for the past couple years before his fight with Margarito? And Floyd fought the same Mosley who was a joke fight for Pac.

Hatton was a good win, but it took him 10 rounds and it was at 147lbs. It only took Pac 2 and at Hatton's career weight.

Prime is not based on age alone. That's overly simplistic and misleading. Every fighter should be judged individually, because they all have differing styles, bodies, mentalities, etc.

Age is ONE factor, but not the only factor. You also have to consider how 'shopworn' the fighter is, how many wars he's been through, and so on. Pac has been in some seriously damaging matches...even when he's dominated the other guy, like against Cotto, people forget that he had to take some genuinely powerful shots to do it. Pac's 'ring age' is surely quite high at this point...Floyd, on the other hand, rarely even takes a flush punch, and he has constant retirement periods. Floyd himself said that it keeps him fresh and rested. I actually don't know what Pac or Floyd's prime is -- it's very hard to judge while someone is still active. Both of them still look good in the ring, though. I don't see any drastic decline.

As for the thread title...would Floyd get credit? I think he'd get more respect than he's had for his entire career. Floyd always complains that he never gets credit...well, this is the one he's been waiting for. One thing about Floyd is that he lacks a defining fight -- he has no Frazier, no Duran, no LaMotta, and he's so skilled that we rarely see him come out of second gear. He normally doesn't need to, and he hates taking risks. Pac might just be able to make him reach inward and find his top form, though...and if that happens, Floyd will finally receive the credit he's been wanting for so long. There will be detractors, as always, but the respect will outweigh them.

I just can't understand why he seems so uninterested in this fight -- he could definitely win, and yet he seems as if he just doesn't want to take the risk. It's disappointing, and if they don't fight in the next year or two, it's probable that the fight will lose all meaning and Floyd will have shot himself in the foot.

 

99% will. 1% of the haters won't. It would be an amazing win for Mayweather that will catapult him way up the ATG rankings.

 

This thread is a good example of how much credit Floyd gets for beating pacquiao. Notice how there's a handful of pacquiao fans in here but only one is willing to even play with the idea with how much credit Floyd gets. The other pacquiao fans are busy talking about resumes like they're job searching after becoming unemployed during the recession.

they hype these guys up all the time as the next boogie man to come and beat Mayweather. The way pacquiao is hyped now, was the same way these other guys were, but I'll say Pac is hyped even more, but he is better than them.

No Oscar wasn't shot. Oscar was younger then than Floyd is right now and had a more recent fight beforehand. Oscar started to decline quicker once he started to try and cut weight.

Do you know ho many people said Floyd was ducking Mosley. You had idiots talking about how scared Floyd was when Mosley walked in on his interview after the fight and how Floyd was going to pull out of the fight and not sign the contract to fight him. I've seen this so many times man.

And I bet if Floyd didn't fight Baldomir, people would have said he ducked him. They'll say he fought the loser of Judah/Baldomir and avoided Carlos even when he had the lineal belt

 

Floyd will get credit from the unbiased fans.

I would love to see pac fans give him the credit he is due as he is an amazing fighter and would deserve credit for fighting someone he is apparently scared of, but i just cant see it happening.

Hes in a no win scenario whoever he fights but thats his fault for making so many enemies.

 

Same goes for PAC. If he beats mayweather they will say mayweather wasn't that good to begin with. If he ko's him well floyd never took the best of shots etc.

 

Shouldn't someone actually get credit for being good enough that they were always able to fight the way they wanted during their career and not the way their opponent wanted them to fight? Being able to dig deep down with the intangibles is only going to help your ass 60 years down the road in h2h fantasy match ups when you're so old that you need assistance wiping your ass.
