Enzo Maccarinelli is coming back - with Enzo Calzaghe in the corner.

He is having another crack at the boxing.

But Enzo has now suffered 5 bad knockout losses - and 4 of them were in his last few fights. :-(

Enzo is only about 31 years old now - so still feels he is young and fit enough to maybe go on for a few years.

But is coming back into boxing a foolish decsion ? :think

Some people feel he is just another nasty knockout victim waiting to happen ?

What about a fresh challenge ?

    A change of sports ?

    What about .......MMA.

Maccarinelli has dabbled with the sport over the years and expressed his desire to enter the cage.

In recent times - we have seen high profile fighters like Ray Mercer and James Toney go into the cage.

Enzo could be trained down at his mates Dojo Gym in Swansea - by good friend and legendary MMA fighter............................

Let's assum he fights at 'Cruiserweight' in MMA, which is 'Light Heavyweight. Just over Enzos usual fighting weight, it's contested at 205.

He is a quality boxer, don't get me wrong. But there are Muay Thai guys that have a more varied assault, and with no takedown defence or submission experience (I understand he's done a bit of MMA training, but would still be woefully unprepared I expect) even guys who are primarily strikers would tap him out with ease (Feijao for instance)

If he had a gimme in BAMMA with a pure kickboxer, I'd give him half a chance. He'd also have a chance against anyone that tried to prove a point and box with him of course.

Case in point. ATG Heavyweight puncher Ray Mercer Vs ex-UFC HW Champ Tim Sylvia, who fancies himself as a bit of a boxer

    Bad idea.

Against Kimbo, who is a poor MMA fighter. Kimbo fancies himself as a boxer, but even with his limited grappling experience/talent, just by choosing to take it to the ground he easily beats Mercer

In short, anyone dumb enough to have a pure boxing match in an MMA fight with Enzo has a decent chance of losing. Anyone with sense will beat him with ease, and quickly. Mercer, even then, is a far more dangerous puncher than Enzo Mac. More examples of far better boxers getting their asses handed to them quickly in an MMA match.

Matthew Saad Muhammad Vs Tamura (sadly no longer on youtube to show you)

Toney Vs Couture same applies; taken off youtube

Also, Enzo will be getting whacked with 4oz gloves. He'd get sparked brutally....again.

He should stick to what he knows, and at a much lower level then he has been competing at the last few years.

I hope Mercer gets a rematch with Kimbo in a boxing ring. ;)

Thing is Enzo would have the huge advantage of having the legendary Paul Wheel in his corner.

The guy is the World Champion of World Champions.

You cannot get any greater than that.

Is Enzo a very common given name in the UK? :huh

I'm frankly surprised there's two in Wales alone - and involved in the same sport at the same time, no less.
