This guy has never even fought a top 5 welterweight who is currently still relevant, let alone beat one...

He appears the best in division, similar to Reem at HW and Hendo at 205. For this reason, people want to see them tested in the UFC.

Surely, no one thinks Diaz would waltz through 170?

Overeem. Dude has exactly one decent win at HW, and even that was an embarrassment.

I think a few people are getting carried away with Brian Stann's progress, but I wouldnt say he's more overrated

Bones, as good as he is, people are going on like he is the best fighter to ever grace the sport. By ESB standard he already beat Anderson Silva and cleared the LHW and HW divisions

Diaz isnt overrated IMO. Skillwise I think hes very underrated yes his boxing may appear to be ugly but alot of things are ugly it only matters if its effective. All Diaz has fought since 2007 basically has been top strikers Gomi, Cyborg, Daley, Noons, Scott Smith, Zaromskis etc and hes destroyed all of them or look at his KO of Robbie Lawler still the only man to do so. Not enough talk about his ground game either when he takes a fight to the ground these days its almost an instant submission it took him like 20 secounds to armbar Cyborg a Blackbelt himself. A Cesar Gracie Blackbelt is a pretty damn big deal.
Diaz doesnt have a GREAT resume but its a very good resume. Whenever you win 15 out of 16 fights with that 1 loss coming via cut then you avenged later on you are doing something right.

    This x10000000000000000.

Not a single title defense.. With Mixed Martial Artist trading wins/losses and passing The UFC belt around like it's a hot potato, you would think posters would have more respect for the game and it's competitors.

    do people truly overrate him?

Believing he had a shot at beating Gsp, is that overrating Diaz?

Ranking in the top 10 welters is that overrating Diaz?

Explain how Nick Diaz is overrated.

    Yes

    Yes
    No

I think anyone who's striking is rated on beating Daley in a who falls over 1st contest and a shot Cyborg then rates him as having great striking is a bit of a reach for me personally

He's got great heart and his unorthodox style poses a lot of problems for most guys in the division. But anyone with lateral movement and decent kicks to counter the range of Diaz's pawing jab and swarming style would beat him imo, and GSP possess both, as well as possibly the best wrestling in MMA

People think that Diaz stylistically had a shot at beating Gsp, thats not ovverrating Nick by any means.

Nick outstuck more than just Daley and Cyborg.

Gsp aint using your strategy of kicks and lateral movement to beat Diaz, Gsp doesnt strike with strikers. Look what happend to Gsp when he struck with Shields.

The main reason why Nick is a good stylistic matchup with gsp is because like Shields, he wont be concerned with being taken down, this will give him an edge in striking that other opponents didnt have against GSp.

Anyways using your plan of kicks and movement Gsp with not so great defensive skills, would eventually get hit by the overwhelming attacks that Diaz throws and be broken down.
