Not much of a debate here.

    Martinez at 160.

IF, and that's a big if, Floyd fights Martinez it's gonna be at 154lbs.

Probably, but that wouldn't be quite the same for his legacy.

Pac beat Margarito, who is a bigger man. Margarito outweigh Pac 15+lbs. Is Pac's win over Margarito greater than Pac wins over say (pick one)...Marquez, Morales or Barrera?

Margarito was/is bigger but after he retires he will be forgotten. On the other hand you have Marquez, Pac, Barrera and Morales who dominated their weight class and fought ala Hagler, Duran, Hearns and SRL. When you mention either Duran, Hagler, Hearns or SRL you (and I am guessing everyone else) right away link the others with those names. That is how it will be in say 10 or 20 more years with Pac, Barrera, Morales and Marquez. To an extend Mayweather if he DOESN'T fight Pac but if he does, that will be the MAIN thing we will remember of Pac and Mayweather.

The problem here is, you're comparing a Pac beatin Margaritp, a fight that happened, to a fantasy fight. There's nothing to go with other then the weight. And it's always going to be a situation by situation thing.

If Floyd moved up to beat Andre Ward, that would be a HUGE feat even though Ward isn't as great as Pac.

I don't know where you are trying to go with this. But thanks.

Thing is Im thinkin a win over Pac would do better for his legacy. But because Martinez is a harder fight, that SHOULD do better for his legacy. It's too bad history wouldn't reflect that. Should just fight both IMO.

I agree up until the bold. I dont think Manny nor Floyd should fight a middle weight that brings nothing to the table. Would I watch of course.

I feel it's win/win for May fighting Martinez. If he wins it's huge, if he looses he's got balls for the attempt.

No its not. He brings no Money and the casual fan will be like this no name guy just beat Mayweather ass if he lose. If he wins then people will say Mayweather just beat up this no name guy. Martienez has not done much in his career.

Let me ask you this beside being ranked #1 whats the difference to the general public between Martienez and say Felix Sturm or even Erislandy Lara ?

another question what the difference to people between ortiz and Martinez to the casual fan? "oh heard Martienez is bigger than Mayweather" "yeah but Ortiz beat berto and berto got them fast hands "

Casual fan maybe. But a casual fan doesn't know anyone Mayweather's fought with the exception of ODLH. REAL fans/afictionado's and historians are the ones who determine what someone is worth as far as legacy is concerned. Plus imagine if Sergio at that point had a MW title. That would be huge for Mayweather to win a title at MW. Who cares what the casual idiots think? We know that Sergio is a tougher fight and would be an amazing win, maybe the best of his career.
