Everyone knows thats the obvious and even Manny knows it. I would like for Marquez to still weigh in at 140 and send a message im not going to get trick. He doesnt need to get as big as in the Floyd fight.

wouldn't make sense for Pac to fight down at 140 knowing that in his next fight he might face Floyd at 147 again. He is already smaller than Floyd as it is.

I don't understand your logic. Anyway, Pacquiao supposedly needs to take in 7,000+ calories a day during training to get up to 147. If that's true, he can just scale that back and make 140 or 141. The fight being at 144 indicates that Pac feels he would be draining himself at a lower weight or that team Pac wants Marquez as heavy as posible because they know it will work against him.

    cop out.
So Manny should have asked Clottey for a rehydration clause, because he has to play by his rules

Pacquiao being the WBO has nothing to do with it. Cotto was the WBO champ and he still had to abide by Pacquiao's weight requirements. Pac's the draw, so he dictates the terms. His paper title plays no role.

Even if he needs to eat that much to keep his weight up, it's still a bad idea to completely change his training regiment in order to fight Marquez at 140 and then once against completely change his training regiment to get back to 147 and fight Floyd. Especially considering that he already has a size disadvantage against Floyd to begin with.

He's right. Should still be a great fight. I'm intrigued by what his conditioning plans are; I suppose we'll get a peak on 24/7.

Pac actually moved up for Cotto more than Cotto moved down for Pac. Pac wanted the fight at 143, Cotto said no lower than 145 and that's where they fought.

Pacquiao's size disadvantage against Mayweather is minimal considering Mayweather walks around at about 150 lbs. Furthermore, the only thing Pacquiao would have to change is not stuffing so many Ariza shakes down his throat. He says taking in that many calories is a pain in the ass anyway.

The point I was making is that even though Cotto was the champ, he still had to abide by a a catchweight and he had to put his belt on the line against his wishes. Being the champ does not mean you get whatever you want.

Whatever weight you fight at (for pac i agree his optimum is 140) its not smart to keep dropping weight then going back up to 147. Its just not good for the body and its not good as a long term plan, so i disagree with this statement, regardless of his optimum weight being 140.

He is now campainging at WW and he needs to stay as close to WW as possible for as long as he continues to fight at WW.

It may be fine doing this if you have body fat to loose, but when you are a boxer and have next to no body fat like pac does, loosing a few extra pounds can make a big difference to performance and longetivity.

Hes already had a jump up in weight and i dont think could have helped him either.
