There used to be videos of Hozumi Hasegawa and Ken Norton measuring their speed but they don't appear to be on youtube at the moment.

Throwing 30 1 inch punches in 3seconds isn't that fast, he's just throwing them over a very short distance

I agree but it's somewhat impressive for a 50+ year old man, and we know the man was fast in his prime. Then again you look at 41 year old Vitali's recent training footage and he throws short punches quick also, but in an actual fight he is hardly exceptionally fast.

Those punches had a lot more on them than these though:

That Calzaghe video is embarassing, it looks more like he's bashing a videogame control pad than a punch bag. Roger and Floyd Sr look damn quick for old timers. I bet Leonard is too

You guys give thread starter too hard a time about including hatton. the reason he included him was because they have hard data on his speed...and that was the purpose of this thread...hard data..not clips of guys looking fast. Unfortantly little hard data seems to exist for whatever reason.

ps..sports science tv show doesnt count.

That just tells us that there isn't enough hard data on boxers' speed to even bother discussing it.

If Ricky ****ing Hatton is among the fastest measured boxers, they haven't measured anywhere near enough boxers.

i suspect that any colleges that have done this have likely used shitty journy men boxers..or heavyweights..in which case hatton would likely have been faster then them.

hatton had decent speed at 140...wasnt the fastest elite fighter by far..but wasnt the slowest at all..so wouldnt shock me that he would be faster then some others.

I don't understand the confusion with the Patterson/Quarry knockdown. Quite clearly a left hook.

maybe it's because of the body punches setting it up? I dunno, looked pretty clear to me as well.
