There may be some truth to this.

But remember, Pacquiao has an age advantage over Mayweather. At 34, Mayweather is already past his prime.

Yea me too I think that at 140 it's a better fight but I know that after the fight he would get absolutely no credit if he wins.

That's just the way it is with Pac.

Then the real problem would be Mayweather's talent level, not his size. If size was an issue, it would've been a problem against Cotto.

Pac has been a pro fighter for a longer time than Floyd and has 17 more fights than Floyd against stiffer competition and many of them wars.

both are factors. Talent and size. It's not just one or the other. If Pac and Cotto were the same size, Cotto wouldn't have made it past 6 rounds.

You're reaching here. Pac has been fighting at WW for 2 years now, and Mayweather is one of the rare WWs who would come into the ring at about the same weight as Pacquiao. Weight would be irrelevat in that fight.

I disagree with you. Floyd is clearly the bigger man and I actually think Pac would be more dominant at 140 than 147. One thing for sure is that if Pac drops down to 140 for Marquez and then goes back up to 147 for Floyd it will not help him.

Although I agree with the Marquez fans who feel he is giving up too much. He has an uphill battle to cilmb.

Cotto and Pacquiao are surprisingly similar in size, I always remember being shocked at the dimensions.

Of course Pacquiao is the smaller fighter, moving up in weight, etc. But the size difference is not great at all really, excluding the rehydration of both boxers.

Pac has just weighed in at 138 against Hatton while Cotto had been fighting at 147 for three years and refused to go below 145lbs for their fight.

If you include the rehydration after the weigh in, there was a big size difference.

I wasn't disagreeing with you, apart from maybe the time of the stoppage...Cotto would have always gotten on his bike to delay the stoppage.

My point being there isn't much size difference at all (Pacquiao actually looked the bigger guy in there)...weight difference, like I said is another story.

he might have delayed it to round 6 but not more than that he really took a beating throughout the fight after the 3rd and 4th round knockdowns.

It's funny to see now a few years after Pac destroyed Cotto his detractors are trying to make the case that Cotto is not bigger than him.

I love the double standards when it comes to Pacquiao.

Pacquiao asks Cotto for a welter catchweight of 143 (his previous fight weighing-in 138 , Cotto negotiates to 145, everyone criticises Pac for the catchweight, the fight is **** on being for a title.

Marquez asks Pac for a catchweight 141/142, Pac negotiates 144, everyone criticises Pac and wants him to fight at 140, some want him to fight at 135. Marquez gets no criticism at all asking for a catchweight, no-one cares that it's for a title

I don't really care about this. We all know Pac is bigger than Marquez, and Marquez doesn't have much of a chance at any rate. Pac's developed way to much since they fought those 2 times, and JMM has declined since then. Still may be a pretty good fight, but I don't care if this fight is at 140... Anybody who says if this fight takes place at 144, 147, or 200 freakin pounds is the reason Pac won.... Is going to say that at 140, or 135. Marquez can weigh in what he wants basically, and Pac stays around that weight anyways. He's not going to be that much bigger than marquez...

it comes with the territory. Marquez should pull out of the fight against Pacquiao because it's unfair at 144... but size had nothing to do with Mayweather (who is even bigger than Pacquiao) beating Marquez at 147. That was all skill baby

Size isn't going to be the problem for Pac just like size wasn't the reason Mayweather beat Marquez.

It was Mayweather's reflexes and hand speed that did Marquez in and what would be the main issue for Pac to overcome to try and win the fight. Mayweather's reflexes to slip punches and counter with hand speed is going to be the big issue. Though I wouldn't be surprised if Mayweather did try to clinch alot and work Pac with inside fighting.
