    :huh

I really like and respect Marquez as a fighter, but I swear he's like his own worst enemy. The Mayweather fight did have to weight. He looked like a bloated fire hydrant. Immediately, after the fight he knew the new weight affected him he said it. He's been chasing Pacquiao all these years after he lost to him and it still gets under his skin.

If anything Marquez should just go into the fight with a weight he might comfortable with like 140lb or 138lb, **** the extra pounds and just fight. It's his only chance... :hat

Pac has been adjusted to cutting 15lbs at a time and not being dehydrated at all.

He comes into fights at about 148/149.

So cutting 8/9lbs even with Arizas shakes isn't going to hurt him. Stop making excuses.

i love how they HAVE to agree to pacs demands....they even force them at gun point to sign the papers.... if cotto was the champion (which he was) and coming in at a lower weight than what your title says is within the limit will or possibly cause you problems during the fight, even cause you to lose and make even less money your next fight or make you obsolete period...then hes a ****ing dumbass for agreeing to a catch weight for a already minuet 7 pound window.... same for being a challenger.... if you want to be a big boy and jump 2 more divisions...dont cry about what weight you agreed to win a 147 pound title...its ****ing ridiculous

jmm made a contradiction here and backtracked what he said about floyd. he is worried for the weight in the pacquiao fight yet he said that weight was not an issue against floyd.

well, against pac, as nacho said, they would not need to worry since they would roughly be the same size. the only thing that would happen at 140 or 141 is a chance that pac would be drained.

I think Pac can make 140 easily. Thats not the point.

Money talks. The Pacquaiao fight was by far the biggest payday out there for Cotto. He agreed to the catchweight but said he wouldn't put his title on the line. However, the WBO forced him to put it on the line. Anyway, the point I was making is that drawing power, not belts, dictates who sets the terms.

What he was saying was that, stylistically, he did not match up well with Mayweather. Therefore, no matter what the weight is, he'll struggle against a fighter like Mayeather. We've alreay seen that Marquez, stylistically, matches up well with Pacquiao. The added weight though, may nullify his stylistic advantages

Can we give Floyd credit for that fight now?

i get the thing about styles but really what would he gain if pac would weigh 140/141 aside from a chance that pac would be drained? they can even make this fight at full 147 limit and they would be roughly the same size come fight night. jmm should just weigh 140 if he thinks it would suit him better. hell even weigh-in at 135 if its the best for him.

People could say no to Pacquiao's weight requests. But then they would lose the biggest paydays of their careers.

i always gave floyd some credit here but we all know that he didn't exactly honored the agreed catchweight. it's one thing that jmm saying this now to hype the fight with pac and one thing to actually see the reality.

floyd is naturally bigger than jmm and with that he has the inherent advantage of having the better punch resistance relatively to jmm. the least he could do was to make the weight that he and his team had agreed to fight for.

Juan Manuel Marquez wants Pacquiao trilogy at 143-144

    By Mark Vester
WBA/WBO lightweight champion Juan Manuel Marquez (51-5-1, 37 KOs) continues to ask for something that he probably won't receive in the near future. As quoted by Ricardo Lois of the examiner, Marquez appeared on ESPN’s Golpe a Golpe and said that he was willing to face Manny Pacquiao at a catch weight between 140 and 147-pounds. Marquez would like a catch-weight of 143 or 144-pounds.
“First Pacquiao would have to accept, but I would fight him at a catch-weight of 143 or 144 pounds” Marquez said.
Marquez has a defense of his titles coming up on November 27 against Michael Katsidis in Las Vegas. Pacquiao moves up to junior middleweight to fight Antonio Margarito at Cowboys Stadium on November 13.
Strange to see Marquez suggest a catch-weight of 143 or 144. After he was dominated last year by Floyd Mayweather Jr., Marquez complained several times about moving up to welterweight to face Mayweather at a catch-weight of 143. He said the weight was too heavy for him and caused him to be too sluggish. It won't get any lighter against Pacquiao.
