That's not how I remember it. That came in the weeks and month later. I only remember maybe one or two threads like that after the fight by some Ortiz fans, and they were in the sentiment of "he'd likely get smashed but he'd make it entertaining", calling for Pac-Ortiz. Mayweather wasn't even in the picture, he was retired and immediate reaction was focused on how flawed and overrated Berto was. It was almost a given that Mayweather would pick Ortiz apart.

Look at this thread the day after of preferred future opponents, Floyd is only mentioned as a fight he has no business taking until long down the road

    By Don Donatello

I went to see how the Victor Ortiz vs. Floyd Mayweather Jr. fight was doing at the box office. I visited some web sites that were selling the tickets and I was not surprised that there were

of tickets available. There is little interest in the fight.

FMJ is now saying to not blame him if the fight between himself and Ortiz does not sell well. He is saying that HBO is doing a bad job at hyping . . . err . . promoting the fight by focusing too much on Victor’s past life struggles.

Floyd Mayweather Jr. is trying his best to generate interest for the upcoming fight. But unlike previous opponents, his chosen opponent this time around does not have a huge fan base. Ricky Hatton, Oscar De La Hoya, Sugar Shane Mosley, and to a lesser extent Juan Manuel Marquez, all had a good fan base. Against Victor Ortiz, FMJ will shoulder a huge majority of drawing in the fans.

isn't it GBP's job to promote Floyd? but instead the news is about Oscar's fishnets being real..

that's got to **** off Floyd a bit.

Fox Sports had a 1/2 hour show on today hyping the fight. it was sort of like the old count down shows. Seemed to have mostly been supported by DeWalt power tools.

    Good ****.

Plenty of tickets still available. This won't break 1 Million, the buzz is not there.
People will save the $ for JMM vs Pac and you can see by it being nearly sold out and the crowds going crazy this is the fight that is stronger of the 2 .

I know. Floyd always wants to have the highest gate. I'm going to see the Pacquiao vs Marquez fight live though.

Wouldn't that be on Golden Boy though (ticket prices)? HBO look after the TV side of things, I don't know if they take any of the gate revenue, do they?
