This is the problem with Commonwealth title fights over here, the closest Commonwealth countries are several hours on a plane away, so it's cost prohibitive..... but some credibility needs to be brought into the equation surely?

Our judges can't score a local derby properly, so why the hell are they going to bother when a foreign fighter is here? They can just rip him off and save themselves from criticism from the promoter.

The board aren't going to do **** so they won't get fired, and the board benefits because a potentially higher payday is down the line from their point of view.

It does seem to be getting worse here. America has some outrageous decisions pretty frequently, even in high profile fights like Williams vs Lara, and appalling refereeing at the showtime bantamweight tourney final. I wasn't suprised when Cox won, he's the home prospect and it's just a fight at a charity dinner, not something that will attract any attention outside the dedicated boxing community. As for Mccloskey/Prescott I think it's a bit much to call that a robbery.

 

It's still under the juristiction of the BBBoC I believe, given that it was in NI.

This isn't just a collective rant of ESB'ers because of a couple of questionable decisions this weekend - we've had a couple of years of it on a regular basis.

People making posts in RBR's saying ''Fighter X 7-4 into the last.... but needs this round big'', or ''I smell a robbery''.

 

Germany is worse.

It's sad but true that the fighter/promoter that brings more to the table for the boxing organisation always gets more favourable judging.


Everyone knows that when fighting away from home, the unwritten rule is that the away fighter must win by a few rounds. Prescott could have done that but threw it away. It's not really fair but that's the way it's always been. It's nothing new or a British/Irish thing.

 

Thing is - every fighter is thinking the same thing. American fighter 'If I go to fight in Europe I'll get robbed'. European fighter 'If I go to fight in American I'll get robbed'.

It really is quite sad. Boxing is just not fair these days, you can't possibly win off home soil unless you violently knock out your opponent.

Disgusted with Boxing at the moment as a massive Boxing fan. I feel embarrassed when my friends are with me watching 'saying WTF, Boxing is f*cking a disgrace, who cares about boxing when they do this to fighters' There isn't really much I can say to them other than Boxing is at its peak for corruption nowadays.

With the standard of judging over the last few months it's safe to say we're now at least equal with Germany and the US.

When a fight's going to the cards and guys on here are already predicting the outcome it tells you something.

 

I wouldn't say it's the 'home' fighter as in nationality, I think it's more linked to who is involved in the promotion.

Hatton/Collazo is the prime example.

 

Britain has always been one of the worst places at home cooking towards own fighters.

 

Not in any way shape or fashion.

Some disgraceful decisions here and there recently especially but we still can't hold a candle to Germany or the US.
