Your Full McCloskey - Prescott scorecard

That was a 10-8 round without a doubt. It was a clear knock down. It's fitting only last night we saw a perfect example of it on the opposite side of the coin.

But simply no you dont go with the ref. If you as a judge think you a better placed to call the punch being illegitimate then the judge can discount the count. Thats the rule mate.

I didnt say I have McCloskey clearly winning the round. I said I had him shading it up to that point.

That round could have been scored 10-8 or 10-9 for Prescott or 10-9 for McCloskey the reasons I've already out outlined.

I believe that deducting points when told to by the referee is mandatory though.

 

Is that the rule???? You have to go with the referee is he deducts even if you don't agree, is how I've always known the rule to be.

My understanding is you must deduct if the refs tells you too but scoring of knockdowns is somewhat open to interpretation.

 

Lederman scored the fight for Alexander against Kotelnik so I wouldn't trust his judgement.

If a judge deems that fighter A has out-boxed fighter B in a round, then s/he will score the round 10 points for fighter A, and 9 points for fighter B. If fighter B is knocked down by fighter A, and receives a standing count, then the round is scored 10 points to fighter A and 8 points to fighter B. If the judge decides that neither fighter won a round, then he will score it 10 points to each fighter.
If a fighter is penalized by the referee (such as for multiple low blows), then the referee will turn to each ring-side judge individually and instruct him to deduct a point for that fighter from their score card for that round.

 

Lederman scorecards can be a hoot no doubt but your statement on scoring isn't correct. It is not automatically a 10-8 if there is a knockdown ruled. (see Pac v Cotto)

 

which round?

the KD's in rounds the 3rd & 4th rounds were counted if I remember correctly.

the Mosley fight I believe was also officially called a KD as well and was scored by the judges as well - the one relating to Pacquiao.

 

I scored it exactly the same. If Prescott had sharpened up his attacks when they were getting sloppy during the later rounds I think he'd have been able to win by a couple. As it happened he let McCloskey back in the fight far too much.

 

There was a knockdown but it was scored 10-9 as Cotto had the the better of the round.

 

I'd need to watch the fight again and score it to fully remember, I haven't watched it since I saw it live.

However the non-knockdown against Mosley was scored against Pacquiao.

 

It was but the judges gave it 10-9 Mosley instead of 10-8 because not only was it not a KD but Shane clearly lost the round.

 

But the point is a judge has the option not to score it. Not saying they do it often but they are allowed to do so.

For round 3, two of the judges gave it 10-9 despite Cotto being put on his ass.
