Chris Arreola can't even throw a punch properly, he slaps. He has atrocious punching technique, get's no leverage on his shots, and because of it does not punch particularly hard. In P4P terms, he's not a big puncher IMO, though any big heavyweight is gonna pack some force behind there shots.
If you think Vitali looked old, then you are simply stupid. He looked very good, was very mobile and fast. I have never seen Vitali this fast. And he has this awkward kinda style, without defense, his left arm hanging down and always kneeing. During the fight he had the same size as Adamek because of his kneeing style. He looked fresh, superb conditioning.
Chris is a fat slob & not too skilled but you cannot argue he has power. ****, that's just about all he has going for him.:yep With better technique he'd have even more power....................
Maybe light punching is a bit harsh. Compared to someone like Sam Peter though, a guy with raw, natural power, Arreola pales IMO. You're right about the technique though, if Arreola punched properly then he'd do more damage. I think he has hand issues though, that's what inhibited him against Manuel Quezada, a guy who he should have knocked out.
Good post. With the exception of a few combos landing Adamek really didn't hit Vitali much. However it seems VK couldn't miss with that jab and he landed at least 1 in 3 right hands.
I didn't see that fight so I can't comment on it, but Arreola isn't a guy that going to win on boxing skills alone, he's a big puncher with a decent chin. That's like his only claim to fame. I also agree that Sam Peter hits harder & he also has better boxing technique. Peter didn't beat Toney twice on power alone, he beat him to the punch and out jabbed him too.
The brothers can only beat whats put in front of them - both Adamek and Haye were legit challengers even if not 'true' heavyweights thier whole careers - getting harder and harder for the haters to write off K2 and while they certainly aint top 10 GOAT material - they are the best heavyweights of this era by a country mile and consistently show up in top shape and deliver top performances. I tip my hat to both of them - and ive spouted enough shite over the years - labelling them both as overhyped eastern bloc stiffs, now its time for a big slice of humble pie :yep
Completely agree. Honestly, it's ridiculous some of the **** posted on forums after a fight. I am a big football (soccer) fan over here in the UK and it's the same on those forums. You start to wonder whether people were watching the same game or fight as you because their views are so blinkered. You have to take your hat off to Vitali. He put on a very good display.imo.
If it wasn't for common sense, i'd say that vitali was as good as the one who fought donald, lewis, johnson, sanders and williams. There is a valid argument that adamek is the best hw he's faced since his comeback and that's certainly the best he's looked. Zero decline. I laughed when wlad said he hasn't seen vitali this fit since he turned 18. Vitali has a chance now to secure his legacy. Haye and povetkin. If he can destroy those two he seals his place amongst the top 15-20 and it would be a reasonable conclusion that the only thing stopping him being number 1 today is his little brother. For a 40 year old, that's phenomenal.

Vitali didn't look old to me. I don't think he lost a second of that fight. He's not the same fighter that he once was when he was younger, he's smarter and understands his body. I don't think we will see him in a brutal slugfest ever again like the Lewis fight, I'm pretty sure he knows he can't do that anymore, but he knows how to control a fight without taking a beating while he slowly wears out and frustrates opponents to the breaking point. Hence his longevity in the sport. Rare few fighters can adapt to age as well as Vitali has. Hopkins is another example of understanding his body well.
I thought he looked old also. Of course, an aging Vitali is still a major force, but he's not the same as he was even against Solis: His punches are noticeably slower. Also, he's being very conservative with his movement. (energy conservation.) While that is a sign of intelligence, and will work against Adamek, it would be a problem against a fast, serious HW. Think Boytsov in about a year. Age is age, hard to argue with that. At the same time, Vitali is in about the best shape any 40 y-o could possibly be in, so massive props to him for not taking this fight lightly.
