I know for instance that if a fighter is badly hurt, losing the round, and his legs have gone then there is the chance you can score it 10-8, but McCloskey was winning the round for me and Prescott only came into it the round with 20 seconds left.

    I had it 114-113 Prescott.

You're meant to score on who does the more effective work, not simply punches landed. I don't see a problem scoring it even, but Prescott did just as much as McCloskey in that round and hurt him too.

That said, I don't believe McCloskey won more than seven rounds. I think you could make an argument for a draw or one point to Prescott.

I normally agree with you mate but I just don't get this.

Prescott battered him; McCloskey was really buzzed and did well to get through it.

If a chap is shading a round (I don't even think McCloskey was, btw) but then gets really tagged and is struggling, surely one gives it to the other chap, last 30 seconds or not.

    Anyway, it's all academic now.

I had Prescott winning, most did, but everyone had it close.

The thing is, given the obviously close nature of the contest, and the fact that most observers seem to think Prescott won, how come ALL the judges went for the home fighter?

Another load of bollocks for me, though not in the same league as that Cox disgrace.

I thought McCloskey won the last round, he was dominant for about 2 minutes and then 30 secs of even action and Prescott won the last 30 secs clearly.

I had Prescott by 1 round but if you consider the kd in the 1st was no knockdown that becomes a 10-9 instead of a 10-8 and I would have the fight a draw.

I'm going to have to watch that last round again...what did my head in was the appalling commentary...they just didn't seem to notice McCloskey was in trouble.

  6. just seen it again on youtube, theres no commentary but crap music...looking at it again, i think dudey did just about enough to win the fight overall [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jD27NZXX-FQ[/ame]

McCloskey easily one the last round, how anyone can score that to prescott is a pudding, just because he landed a good right doesnt mean you win the round.

Theoretically McCloskey won the round and i think he dominated most of round 12 in all fairness, but he did get wobbled and hurt in round 12 so it could go the other way. A perfect example would be Khan v Maidana, round 7 i think where Maidana landed 2 good shots and won the round.

it isnt the 12th round i had a problem with giving mccloskey it was i think the 10th, maybe the 9th where he follows presscot round getting hit with 4 or 5 shots on his own and landing hardly anything yet they give him the round for following him round, presscot's round easily yet sky was going crazy for a mccloskey round, the 12th i would say presscot too, thought he won by 2 or 3 rounds if you count the KD

Watched Round 12 again there and I still think McCloskey won it but Prescott won Round 9.

Prescott round clearly for me. McC throws zero punches in the last 30 seconds. Add the fact the first 20 secs was awash due to the gloves. Had it fairly even till then. McC was busier but mostly hitting gloves.

I'm not ignoring the clean punches he landed though.......

Prescott answered back throughout the round up until the last 30 secs.

I thought mccloskey took the 12th, overall I thought a draw was about right 1 or 2 points either way was ok but gun to my head I thought Prescott probably did enough in the early rounds to get his hand raised.
