By round 8, Ortiz will have tremendous respect for Floyd's power, because he will be beat-up by that point.
You know I honestly think the best way to make this an Ortiz style fight is by not respecting Floyds power not boxing with Floyd making it the same type of fight he made it with Berto..... This is the 1st prime welter weight that Floyd has ever faced in his entire career.... he has struggled with Oscar, fought a washed up Mosley over trained Mosley in his last fight. Fought two smaller guys prior to Mosley Marquez (who is past his best and not even a jr welter) and Hatton who wasnt anything special to begin with, and lets talk about Hatton for a second, Hatton showed No respect to Floyd neither and had adopted a wild style of fighting for that fight, and honestly though Floyd won each and every round those rounds were far from comfortable. Hatton Made Mayweather find another way to beat him and he did in the 9th... this was a younger Floyd remind you..... Floyd is now 34 years of age and though he has a wealth of talent, that doesnt make him a B Hop you have to have something inside of you to be able to extend your career that far and not all fighters have that ability and Floyd is not exempt from that. There is also a possibility that Floyd is over looking Ortiz and looking at the paycheck he is likely to get, and God I do hope thats the case... what may also have been a factor is his legal disputes though he has avoided going to court to face the heat, it still something that is going to be on his mind.... Just imagin if the judge makes a decison this week leading into the fight for the Pacquiao lawsuit and its worse than what Floyd expected mentally that too can play a factor in this.....
Agreed. It's his only chance. But that's always the only chance for a less skilled slower fighter. Ortiz better hope he can bang Mayweather out somehow because he can't live with him in a boxing match.
floyd doesn't have power. it's average at best. don't get me wrong he's not a paulie but certainly no Donaire either. not that any of that matters since Vic has never even shared the ring with an A class fighter, much less a pound for pound one.

Floyds punches sting and it hurts but not enough to cause a knockdown. Ortiz will try his best to hit floyd but will keep on missing and those stinging punches from floyd will take a toll on him and will end up frustrated and lose to a wide UD!
He better. Constant theme in Mayweather fights, people under-estimating the amount of pop in his punches. Yeah, he's not going to KO the guy with one punch, but he's accurate, quick, and has enough power to make you think twice about throwing a punch. That's all you need to be honest. Power in boxing is typically over-rated by fans. Just my opinion. I have a saying for boxing, if you think a guy has a "punchers' chance" that is the equivalent of saying he has almost no chance. Strength and power don't win boxing matches as much as intelligence and accuracy does.
