MMA is over the hill already. It was at an all-time high like three years ago.

No probs if you like MMA it up to you, the reason it does so well is people like brute force fighting rather than skill and this tams away from the skill of the MMA fighters who are also technically gifted

But boxing is beautiful but it needs to sort itself out lime get rid of useless sNctioning bodies and sort the corrupt judges out, get people to fight worthy opponents etc etc

Part of the reason I like MMA so well is the lack of cherry picking.

I don't know, maybe I'm too old to appreciate it. MMA must appeal to the modern day metro sexual type bloke whose a bit too feminine for my liking.

Must admit I have rarely taken any notice of it but when I have seen a bit of the sport I just have an inane dislike for watching two blokes virtually humping each other on the floor.

mma is a passing fad. kinda like pro wrestling. it will have it's high times and low times, but no different than wwe. they market to teens it seems, with the nicknames and action figures and swag and stuff. wwe was huge in the 80's with hogan, then it died off a bit, came back, went away, etc...but it was never considered a sport like boxing.

not sure if my point is coming across properly, but mma/ufc is no threat to prizefighting

The cherry picking in boxing is mainly done by promoters and not fighters though. Fighters who have had over 100 AM/PRO fights are never really scared of a fight, it's usually business. You get a lot of recycled and needless fights in MMA as well, as I've seen more of MMA I've actually started liking the way boxing works more.

I won't deny there is a lot of skill involved but 95% of MMA fans are just pricks who think their a fighter because they wear Silver star, do some weights and maybe been to one or two lessons.

Why does this matter to me?

If MMA has better viewing figures than boxing, all it shows is that the majority of the population want to watch either two semi naked people rolling about on the floor, or a messy brawl. I already knew most people were idiots, thanks.

By the way, Mayweather and Pacquiao will fight, just like the really big fights always happen when there is enough hype.

The reason Lesnar vs. Overeem fight will get loads of hype as well is because Lesnar is a celebrity and they are both steroid heads which attracts people.
The Lesnar vs. Overeem PPV will be sold for less than Pac-May and will do less buys in the US and world wide.

Your crazy. I heard the Rio card did between 250 and 300k. You expect 2m from a bum who is scared of fighting?

Also if the UFC continue to do 2 cagefighting ppvs a month they will fail. We are in a economic crisis people dont have the money.

Why does MMA always have to bring up boxing, but boxing rarely talks about MMA.
