How would a prime Bowe have fared against the Klitschkos?

A marginally impressive resume by contemporary standards in the case of Wladimir Klitschko, but there isn't one name on there I wouldn't have favoured Riddick Bowe to have defeated handily. Are we concluding who will go down as the greater fighter or who would have come out victorious in a head to head meeting? Don't answer that.

Bowe was chinny. They did a good job of covering that up until towards the end.

Conditioning is a huge factor when considering a fighters punch resistance, and it's no coincidence that Bowe was getting rocked, hurt, and even knocked down at the tail end of his career. He was a shot item by the time Golota came around the corner, but Bowe would come to the ring out of shape even before then. Would I list punch resistance as a strength of Bowe's? Not really, but I don't think he was chinny.

On the other hand, Wladimir probably is chinny.

Compare the punch that Wladdy took off Haye, a big puncher, in the 12th, to the one that put Bowe on his ass against holy, who is a mid-range puncher.

Wlad does not have a comparatively bad chin, he has just fought guys who hit a lot harder than the Jesse Fergusons and Mike Dokes that Bowe wasted his prime on.

Thats why he was terrified of Lennox Lewis. He tasted Lewis' power as an amatuer, and wanted no part of that.

People are forgetting Bowe was a pretty good inside fighter for a big guy.

I've not really seen a decent analysis to support the idea that Bowe would have been outclassed in either of these match-ups. I do however keep hearing about how he was supposedly beaten twice by Andrew Golota and how he ducked out of a fight with Lennox Lewis. I'm godsmacked that people seem to be disregarding the Evander Holyfield result. "He was small, etc". The Holyfield of '92 brought more to the table in terms of ability and sheer will than any of Wladimir or Vitali's opponents. Any of them. It's completely pointless to bring up the argument that Riddick Bowe never defeated anyone comparable to either Klitschko because the same applies vice versa.

Simply review the strengths and weaknesses of all the combatants. Everything else seems irrelevant to me.

Think about how Golota's jab made a mess of Bowe's face, constantly smashing up into it. Then double that impact and speed and accuracy and you'll know what Bowe would have faced against either brother. No contest.

Good lord, he picks Chris "Taco Bell" Arreola over four heavyweight titlists and three crusierweight champs, and you think he makes sense?

Golota ended Bowe's career! Vitali or Vlad would have knocked him out!!!!!!!
