Hi Dunky, aye mate been reading this thread with interest, trying to bite my tongue, but some of the comment are well over the line mate. When I used to see Ricky in the Barn he was a welterweight, then he got sensible and lost the weight, but he is a big lad for the weight so it was only a matter of time before he moved up cause he has a big frame. Billy always rises to these guys, I wish he would just laugh at them and leave it at that, but it aint that easy I suppose. Hopefully Burns v a big name and then all the insults will stop.

Just looks as though Fwank has had Burns duck Broner to fight Mitchell and make sure he reaps the benefits of any possible Burns defeat. I know Burns was big for the weight, but he wasn't too big when they were trying to get a fight with Fana.

I'd actually be rooting for Mitchell if he fought Burns. The idea of Burns being able to be hyped as a two-weight 'world' champion after 3 **** poor defences and then moving up when he was due to actually face a real challenge just doesn't sit right with me. I don't blame Ricky, but it's still meh.

To be fair Rickys team have never actually said he would be two weight champ if he wins interm, just posters on here. Why not wait and see what is in the mix before everyone slags off Ricky, cause he is a true wee gent, honestly. And Billy is maybe a bit outspoken for some of you guys but he always puts the interest of his fighter first, or he wouldnt be doing his job. If Burns fought and got beat whilst looking weight drained, both him and Ricky would get slated, but they are trying to make sure it aint gonna happen, and still gets slated..

Also there are a lot of guys slagging off Billy for saying Ricky is fast, strong for the weight, but what trainer wouldnt?? He aint exactly gonna say anything else is he?????:patsch
Ok Ricky has had a couple of easier defences, but I think he earned them, and now he will hopefully move up the tree

    You don't earn ''easy'' defences.

It seems customary to have one, two at an absolute push. But to steer Burns away from anything remotely dangerous after beating a heavy handed champion is frankly ridiculous.

I for one am not slagging Ricky, but I am disappointed in his promoter and manager for moving him up in weight right now. There were no signs he was struggling to make the weight, and the word up until now was that he'd have a couple more fights at the weight to win The Ring belt and then move up. That's a big reason why a lot of his fans stuck with him through frankly terrible defences.

Read what im saying to you mate and try taking it in,nobody is more gutted than Ricky about needing to move up, he so much wanted to fight for the Ring belt and unify the Belt but nature has caught up with him theres no hidden agenda just nature taking its coarse.

How come Ricky says he can still make the weight then?

Even a faded Katsidis is a level above Ricky. Ricky doesn't have the punching power to wear Katsidis down like Marquez and Diaz did, nor the skill like Casamayor to throw Katsidis off and capitalise on his mistakes. I think it'd be a great atmosphere and a fun fight, but a win for Katsidis - possibly within the distance.
Hey, good luck to Ricky as he moves up the weights. Until he actually fights a legitimate opponent again then I won't be rooting for him. Being Scottish and a "world" champion isn't enough if you're fighting no-hopers.

    Good Luck Billy,

    Whats the plan?

Beat the weakest title holder and defend it against these guys:

Dangerous fella, he has 9 knock outs in 11 fights, Rafael Mensah

    or

    Sharif Bogere 20-0 from Uganda

    or

Geir Inge Jorgensen, looks in good form 28-2, from Norway

Make a ton of money in Scotland against those 3 and then move on to Light Welterweight and become Scotlands first 3 weight Champion.

Ricky knows his body better then anyone. If he says he can still make SFW, let him! There is certainly a hidden agenda here, and it's ridiculous. People have clearly put it in his head he can be a multi-weight 'world champion' and hbe seemingly pushed him into moving up which is pure bollocks. Yes he looks big for the weight, but he doesn't look dead at it, far from it. It's just the same bollocks we always here 'Ooh believe me, Katsidis is the fight we want'. Last month it was Broner, the month before Fana, it's all getting repetitive and boring. And it's a shame for Ricky as he seems like a genuinely nice bloke (quote me, as I don't usually compliment Scots).

If rickys fighting another bum then I wont be supporting him. Does this make me a scotsman who is anti scottish. Khan, hatton, haye and naseem all get pelters from time to time on ESB but these guys went out and fought the best.
