How would a prime Bowe have fared against the Klitschkos?

It'd be like the Golota beatings multiplied by ten and minus the bollock shots.

    Bowe is overrated as hell.

Just substitute either brother for Golota and you really think Bowe would win? There would be no infighting for Bowe to do well in.

Bowe had some serious potential but he never really lived up to it. He got his ass kicked twice by Golota & he refused to fight Lewis. Those are the 2 opponents that most closely resemble the Klitschkos and he failed miserably.

Riddick Bowe is overated in my analysis.

His peak was what 1 year, then somehow he was past it?

He weighed 235-245 at 6'5 and fought Holyfield 2-1.

In all honesty if the series went on Holyfield would have made it 2-2

They were that close. Evander slugged with him, big mistake.

Bowe never fought Ruddock, Tyson, Lewis, Morrison, Old Holmes, Old Foreman, Moorer.

In all honesty for a fighter thats meant to be great that is really poor.

If Golota wasnt a mental midjet then Bowe would have 3 losses on his record.

I reckon people rate him becuase he only lost 1, he is american and because his carrer was so short we never got to see real adversity or defeat much like Rocky Marciano.

Bowe essentially had an 8 year pro carrer with no variety of top level opponent...

If Lewis quit after 8 years he would have 1 loss
    Tyson 1 loss
    Ali zero
    Foreman 2 losses
    Holyfield 1 loss
    Holmes no losses
    Wlad 2 losses
    Vitali 2 losses
    J. Louis 1 loss
    Frazier no losses

You see if most great fighters quit after 8 years they would be the same from a stats view point

You're picking out one opponent in Bowe's 45 pro fight career and using it as gospal to draw a clad iron conclusion. I can think of more than one poor performance for both Klitschkos to do the contrary.. I will also ad that while Bowe was beaten horrifically against Golata, this was not exactly the best rendition of Riddick who no longer had Eddie Futch in his corner, had struggled through three all out wars with Evander Holyfield and was not exactly a glutant for training by this point.

That said, I can see your point on a few things.. Wlad's primary achiles heel was the left hook - something that Bowe was not exactly a master of. In addition, Bowe had a poor defense and was regularly subjected to getting tagged by men with a stait left jab, which both Klits posses. Lastly, he was rarely matched in the physical department, whereas he'd be the smaller man against the Klitschkos.

Its possible that he could have lost to both, but not out of the question for him to have beaten one of them on the right evening either.

**** knows, Vitali is the only guy who has experience of fighting a large, highly skillful heavyweight, something Wlad cant claim and something Bowe cant claim. For that reason alone i would favour Vitali to prevail in a tough gruelling fight that he takes down the stretch. Wlad vs Bowe is very debatable neither guy has quite seen something like the other, Wlad is clearly the better conditioned athlete, hits harder and is faster, Bowe is the more versatile, he can fight on the outside and can mix it up on the inside. Neither are the most confident and can be mentally broken if things are not going there way, i'd favour Bowe to break Wlad down mentally before Wlad gets into a rythem himself, 8th round stoppage.

Prime Bowe I'd make a 60/40 favorite over Wlad. Where Wlad would have a HUGE edge though is mental makeup. Bowe-Vitali is closer to 50/50, but I'd make Vitali the slight favorite.

106 votes already and NONE for "He'd have beaten Vitali"?

That mother****er sure has built a reputation lately. Incredible.

Bowe was one of the biggest enigma's in all of boxing. He had all of the talent in the world but i think he lack the passion to reach his full potential.

if this was a question about ATG status there would be know question. However, since Bowe is a highly skilled man that would not be easily bullied around like these current crop of bums, plus he had an inside game that either bros had to deal with i would say I would give him a slight edge (at their peaks) over the older bro. I think stylistically, younger bro would match up better and might be a slight fav,

Prime Bowe is represented by the period that goes from his WBA eliminator with Pierre Coetzer and his WBO title defense against Jorge Luis Gonzales and Evander Holyfield. He would have had problems with a determined, committed and aggressive Wladimir such as when he went out after Ray Mercer and Jameel McCline but he most probably would have flattened him and dropped him so many times as Corrie Sanders did and against Vitali, he couldn't be any worse than Lennox.

I admit that Bowe wasn't at his peak when Golota beat him up. But I just think these guys are too big and are the wrong style for Bowe. Of course we'll never know.
That's why we have these forums.

    Bowe?

He would have had less than 1% chance.

It was no coincidence he avoided Lennox like the plague. He only met good people of his own size a couple of times and looked as bad as he was. Then he got a huge chance to fight little Evander. And despite huge physical advantages he looked far from impressive. Unfortunately, based purely on fight with one little good fighter some people imagine Bowe was good.

Golota was better than Bowe, and Golota could not hold a candle to neither Klit.

Then the argument was that Bowe had the world's shortest prime... just like Jeff Lazy was way past his prime right around the Calzaghe fight in his 20ties.

Bowe is perhaps the most overrated person on ESB.2

Couldn't have said it better. His decline was inevitable, his work ethic wasn't sound. And remember bowe put a kitchen in his bedroom after the first Holyfield win.

Oh and for those that are saying bowe ducked Lewis not true. His mgr rock Newman chose to do that in an effort to milk the the title. Of course it back fired.
