Will Ortiz's record come to an end on this weekend?

Floyd will have Ortiz's number after the opening few rounds, if a KD is coming it'll be early on but even then I can't see it.

I can actually see Floyd forcing a stoppage in this one, going completely against character.

Yeah I think there's a decent chance Ortiz puts Floyd down. Call me crazy but I'm not writing off Ortiz of winning the entire fight. I just see something..

 

Anyone have the odds for Ortiz in the first 3? He is 6/1 to stop him any time, so I imagine it'll be high. Just may be worth a punt

 

The opening exchanges i expect to be frenetic and i sense Garcia wants Victor to try get to Floyd from the get go and not allow Floyd to settle into the bout. Set the tempo high and make him work. Ortiz does have some decent physical qualities and power so early doors will be good to watch. It's once Floyd adapts and becomes ring general that's when Victor will have issues because he will need to adapt himself. It's what sets Floyd apart from his opponents his ability to adapt. Once he does you gotta make a move. To many just continue with the same gameplan.

 

Im not even looking at the obvious for this one- i.e skills. We all know Floyd is a master of his art.

However, although he pushes the money subject, I honestly feel hes only boxing for the money now, I feel Floyd has wanted out for a while, but the bills keep making him come back. hes getting older... hes fighting a younger bigger man who is talented, hard hitting & HUNGRY.

My head says Floyd, & you should always follow your head. However my heart is telling me Ortiz is going to put an end to the Mayweather era, & for once Im going to follow my heart.(My heart is exclusively for scottish boxers) so this is a first for me

Ortiz is going to shock the world.

 

Ortiz hasn't got the skills, grit, chin or jab to beat Mayweather. End of story.

 

Ortiz' only chance is to catch Mayweather early with a thunderous shot that KOs him clean. I give this <1% chance of happening.

 

I can't see Ortiz winning either, that's why this fight is happening.

Realistically he's got to come out all guns blazing, Floyd isn't the quickest starter after all.... and hope to catch him early.

Ortiz is about on a par with the Mosley that Mayweather beat, so with Mayweather being older and even less active :yikes he does have a slight chance of getting the job done.

But - he's not the greatest finisher in the world is he? Couldn't get rid of Maidana who was there for the taking.... couldn't get rid of Peterson, Campbell or Berto either, and Floyd knows his way around the ring.

Mayweather by stoppage in the 2nd half of the fight.

 

No he isn't. He'd get his ass beat by the Mosley of right now.

 

Oritz has showed he is a seriously limited fighter. Putting to one side he is a one demential come forward fighter with no defense against the right hand (Mayweather's best punch?) and no jab whatsoever, he is also a horrible finisher. He had Maidana bang in trouble. Instead of finishing him off, he charged in and got caught himself rather than picking his shots. Same thing with Berto who was hurt in the first. He charged in and got put on his arse. Peterson, he hurts him but can't finish him. It's a continuing story.

I would love to be able to transport you back in time and get an uninfluenced opinion of what you thought of Duran at the time.

I see Ortiz causing him some problems but there is no doubt Floyd is class.

 

Seriously lads?

All he's got left is the big right hand for a couple of rounds..... his legs have gone, his ability to take a shot is on it's way down.... couldn't even beat Sergio Mora ffs.

I'm not an Ortiz fan by any means and love Shane, but I think he'd struggle to get over the line in that one.

 

I agree, I think Ortiz would sort todays mosley out similar to nate cambell.
