1. Ali 2. Holmes 3. Johnson 4. Louis 5. Lewis 6. Foreman 7. V.K. 8. Holy 9. Tyson *. Frazier / Liston (Tie) Sorry, but "Marciano, Charles, Dempsey, Wlad K. and Joe Wally" Make up #'s 11 thru 15... MR.BILL NOTE: Wlad Klit could easily make the top-10, as long as he doesn't get nailed.... I can see a peaked Wlad painting "Tyson, Frazier and Liston."
Mine: Louis Ali Rocky Johnson Holmes Foreman Lewis Tyson Holyfield Dempsey My criteria is best 2/3 on a resume, legacy and skillset comparison. I have never heard of cribb. Note, my list based on who beats who is Louis Ali Liston Foreman Tyson Holmes Lewis Wlad Vitali Dempsey
P.s. Welcome to the boards! Whatever you do, stay away from the general forum. Just never click that link!
Belcher lost to Pearce and Cribb. It might have been due to an eye injury, but he just didn't win. Pearce--His biggest win was over Belcher, whom Cribb defeated twice. His career ended early because of alcoholism. Certainly there is a case for Ben Brain and Tom Spring, as well as Jem Mace. Cribb's wins over Richmond, Belcher, and Molyneaux seem to me more impressive than those of any other LPR champion. That first Molyneaux fight was controversial, but what exactly happened seems to be in some dispute, and Cribb impressively won the rematch.
nice list and welcome i like that you laid out your criteria, it lends credit to whatever fighters you choose
I think Pearce's biggest win was over Gully, Belcher was past it by the time the Chicken Game beat him. I also part them, LPR has there own list, and the glove boxing has there list. I think Pearce is top 3 on the LPR. Ranked after Cribb and Belcher imo. Marciano is top 3 after Ali and Louis imo.
alcoholism was not the cause of Pearce's retirement, it was TB if I recall. Which he will pass away a year later from. Pearce's record is complete. 7-0, with 7 knockouts. consider the type of rules back than, 7 is a lot of fights in its own right. 1 or 2 fights could ruin a man back than.
p,yes it was a great fight I recall. They wouldn't let me in to see that bout in Thistleton,England because I was underage. So I had to attend the bout with my pediatrician.:hi:
I love ol' Burt......... I do....... He's the only man alive today that still has fond memories of Davey kayoing Goliath....... Intense....... MR.BILL
Folks, I can name 20 heavies who'd KTFO of John L. Sullivan via a time machine..... Okay, so his resume looks nice..... Paperwork ain't everything........ I'd like to see Ol' Sully of 1889 go against most of the heavyweight champs throughout the 20th / 21st century...... MR.BILL
