I've just re watched Mayweater Hatton.

A couple of observations. That fight was a lot closer leading to the KO than I remember. Despite being KO'D it think he gave mayweather his toughest fight since Castillo.

However watching the Fight Hattons Footwork, Head movement, Angles Pressure were at such a high level in that fight. However as he started to slow down, Mayweather started to tag him.

I see Oriz operating more at a De La Hoya type speed and just getting picked apart, And Eventually TKO'd around 10 rounds.

Although been a big puncher, I suppose he got a chance.

I detest Hatton, but I have to admit, he was winning the fight until the game changer came into play. Once the biased umpire Cortez played his role, Hatton lost his head and was found wanting.

You have to say though, he did vastly better than JMM, which is why it cracks me up that people call JMM a warrior when he showed no heart at all, even Hatton, a drunken C class bum showed more heart ad went all or nothing.

People simply forget how good Hatton was because of how Mayweather shot him, and then Pac blowing him out the water, he had some of the best footwork in the game, and his closing speed was giving Mayweather issues. I felt he should have stayed at 147, after that fight, even though he was Ko'ed it's no shame in losing to the best. The way he balloned up during his off time, his team should have warned him that draining to 140 at that point in his career was suicide

    No he didn't.

I'd be happy if you said 2 rounds at least. But not at best.

Even HBO commentators had given him 5 rounds

I do miss watching Ricky, it was exciting watching him push onwards and upwards from his first pro fight through to his retirement, its a shame he called time on his career when he did but those 2 defeats were pretty much it, after fighting the 2 current best and coming up short, where do you go from there without seeing it as a step down?

Remember the Mayweather fight well. Big group of us all set for the fight, went out on the town pre-fight and got on it before heading back to a flat and getting stuck into the beers some more with the anticipation of the bout... being off the chair with excitement as Hatton put it to Floyd early doors and believing he had the measure of the man, then facing up to the devastation of the knockout that you could slowly see coming... good times despite the result

You hate Floyd that much to say Hatton was wining? Keep on hating!!!:happy
Hatton won a few rounds but it wasnt close and it wasnt that hard of a fight fo Floyd, he had trouble first few rounds and than figured out Hatton, started to work him and stopped him end of story.

Hatton was about about 3 natural weight divisions bigger than JMM thats why.

And at no stage whatsoever was Ricky Hatton winning that fight. He did slightly better than Shane Mosely exept for round 2...shane got walked down whereas Hatton kept coming

    That fight was not close.

    What were you watching?

Floyd was tearing Ricky a new a-hole all night long, on the inside, on the outside, you name it.

He'll dismantle OrTREES and son' him.

This. I only don't think the fight was that close. Even in the 1st round Floyd was landing good shots. I think even one of the rounds 8 or 9 could of been a 10-8 round to floyd it was that one sided.

Hatton was much better and faster than he ever got credit for. esp when he was young... say < 25.

I thought the fight was close until mayweather started to time his lunging attacks. it didnt help Cortez is an idiot.

i think this was one of Floyds best wins despite Hatton being a 140lb fighter.

    @ john anthony

i see it as you do. Ortiz will be more like ODH and try to out hustle floyd. but not like Hatton who was a guick-pace pressure fighter.

Ortiz will not jab. Hatton didnt come in behind a jab. ODH abandoned his jab. = floyd will time the attacks and potshop/cruise to a UD.
