I haven't seen anybody adress this, but i thought about it the other day. Last year when he fought Mosley he said "i'm not paying a bs sanctioning fee, belts don't do anything but collect dust", which was contradictory anyway since he presumably had to pay a sanctioning fee for Judah's ridiculous IBF belt, but still i was glad that such a high profile fighter seemed to be taking a stand against sanctioning body bull****. So what's up with this?
He told the WBA to go to hell when they tried to shake him down for big cuts of PPV money or something like that, from what I've read. ...Then again, I can't remember how good the source I read that on was. So...maybe not. Could be nothing like that at all! If that's the case though, good for him, I say.
Floyd lies a lot. He says what's convenient at the time even if it contradicts **** he's said in the past. Nothing new.
For whatever reason boxers seem to have a fetish for "The Green Belt". Mayweather included. When he was refuseing to pay the WBA he stated that the WBC would be the only championship he'd fight for.
Possibly a marketing thing too. As Ortiz is more of a fledgling star than say Mosley, JMM, & Hatton, it helps to legitimise the bout by emphasising his WBC championship title. Hatton was '0 vs 0', whilst JMM & Mosley obviously have the career reps. There aren't as many angles available for promoting this fight.
I know, that's the weirdest **** right? Although i believe that it's usually mostly Mexican fighters that are afflicted by this. Where Floyd's misplaced appreciation for the We Be Corrupt comes from is beyond me.
