Well if Cotto is your fav active fighter then of course your gonna want him to do a number on Margo. Dont get me wrong, the guy is a cheat who i dont think should be boxing anymore. And your right to be skeptical of their first fight as am I (ive heard people say he punches very very hard, and have heard fighters say he doesnt have much power at all). If Cotto wins i wouldnt be terribly upset, but if Margo wins at least it will put the arguement to bed

That's an interesting theory. The thing is, Mosley may have looked bad because Mayorga is a horrible fighter anyway, and no-one looks good against Mayweather. But I take your point, Mosley is also a proveb cheat who could have just as easily killed someone in the ring

There's one downside to Cotto winning - it could set up a Pac rematch which equals another massive beating for Miguel, or it sets up a third fight with Margo.

I won't lie, Cotto losing the first time hurt me badly. I could have cried for him. I couldn't sleep after it. Same when Pacquiao trounced him. I just lay awake, feeling awful, worrying about this guy over the Atlantic.

But I had respect for Margo for the way he came back. He seemed like a good guy who finally came good. Then the Mosley fight happened and the pads...

To think I'd felt that way when Cotto lost, all because some scumbag cheated... I can never forgive him. But there was a lot of confusion going on when Margo was getting ready for the Cotto fight, and I've always felt Keith Kaizer's "assurances" that the wraps were checked is very convenient.

Damn dude! You're seriosly passionate about Cotto! For your sake, I hope your guy gets revenge on him. I just hope it's another brutal war! But i agree, no Pac rematch for the winner :nono

I'm same as dftaylor and the night he lost i was in shock cos it just seemed to fall away so quickly after a brilliant boxing display early on.

Miguel needs to win this fight for his own peace of mind.

I wonder how Cotto fights this. I mean, usually once a fighter has tasted the other guys power he gets over cautious. But I just wonder of he has convinced himself Margo DEF had loaded gloves, and will want to prove he is the macho guy and stand and trade.

From the way Manny's speaking and after commentating on the fight he feels Miguel lost the fight due to his defensive mindset. He believes Miguel should of stayed centre ring and sat on punches a lot more and clinched on the inside.

See Margarito likes to pen his man down on the ropes and just lay his gloves on you and Miguel played right into his hands as well as burning a lot of energy with to much lateral movement.

This time he has to work centre ring and put a bit more into his punches as well as clinching when Margarito gets close. Even though he doesn't like the principles he has to accept it.

It's a gameplan that works and has worked against Margarito, Can Miguel do it? i bloody hope so!

Cotto neglected his body work a lot in that fight too.

I suppose when you're landing every time you throw a headshot you might not bother..... in spite of all the other goings on, the chin Margarito showed in that fight was unreal.

Standing his ground would be a better idea, Margarito doesn't punch hard enough to knock him out after all, if Steward can work on using lateral movement without wasting heaps of energy it's well worth trying to implement.

I think Cotto is the better fighter of the two but the styles matchup favours Margarito quite strongly, they've both had long spells out of the ring recently so you couldn't really say one man was clearly fresher.

    Margarito late, again :-(

And Margarito is a lot fitter than Mayorga. But I think Cotto can pull it off.

If i was Cotto i'd let fly with the headshots because Margarito's face may never be the same again after the Pac beating. He may mark up and swell rather quickly.

I actually really, really, really enjoyed that, even more than the Mosley fight. He wasn't decapitated, he was humiliated, which made it all the more watchable. The only downside to it was that Pacquiao was merciful to an extent, I'd rather have seen him humiliate and then decapitate.

This this this this this this this.

Especially the second part, which is weirdly similar to how I felt. At the time of the Margarito fight I thought, being 16, I was just being immature. Obviously not:lol:, seeing as it happened again after the Pacquiao fight and after Montiel got his face dented by Donaire(not that I wanted him to win, I was impartial, it just sickened me to see a fighter I admire so much getting splattered and looking inept in the process).

Just watched the highlights of the first fight that was posted up a few pages back at the end when kenny bayliss raises his hand would you not think he would feel the hand wraps were hard?

I don't think he was humiliated at all. It was one of the most foolhardy displays of bravery you'll see in the ring.
Cotto on the other hand went on his bike after the 4th round and ran for cover as Paccy continually beckoned him for a punch up.

Cotto 1/2 in the betting to win this.
