Haye's strengths..... Power Speed Haye's weaknesses..... Stamina Chin Ring IQ Balance Neutral areas - footwork and punch variety
The two bolded points are bollocks. He had Fragomenni on ***** street with a single clean shot. He only clipped him when he was sagged against the ropes. Plenty of fighters have done that. Marciano for one. Life and death? Other than getting cut he was comfortably ahead the whole fight. Getting pushed is not the same as struggling. What the **** has Cunningham got to do with Haye's standing at CW. Cunningham won a vacant title that should have been Hayes. The only reason it was vacant is that the org stripped Mormeck because he rematched Bell rather than fight his mandatory (which was Cunningham possibly, or Wlodarczyk I cant remember). Cunningham lost the first match with Wlodarczyk, then won it in the rematch. And Haye, by then, had beaten Maccarinelli (who was higher-ranked) and had said he was going to HW.
I wouldn't fancy him against most Heavys between 185-200lbs. He is a top 10 since the inception of the division. It is a really weak division. Legit' power? Yes. But a shocking finisher.
Comes back to the point I made on another thread about needing a technical trainer as well as Booth. And I think Booth's done a good job overall, but he's never sorted out Haye's over-eagerness to get the stoppage.
try not to sound like a condescending know it all mate the referee was in the process of starting a count, the man was clearly down, and he hit him. i dont give a **** about marciano, it was a foul What its got to do my friend, is that a man claiming to be the undisputed best in a division, didnt fight a top ranked fighter. His good bye was beating the 'dangerous' macca. You generally are a good poster, but you seem to have blind spots about certain people. Give us a list then of Hayes strengths and weaknesses so we can see your balanced view? Please also dont try to be a patrionising *****, and remember, once upon a time you knew **** all too!:good
I think they'd have sorted out his finishing problems if someone had either held on or sparked him. The lessons from the Ruiz fight weren't really learnt IMO.
good fighter.......cracking CW and decent HW, would like to see him carry on and show he can become a better HW, cos he is a natural CW take the time to get bigger and challenge wlad with more weight and see how he fairs..............granted wlad will more than likely take him still but id love to see haye bulk up slightly as he fights on every fight and try to up the weight as he trys to keep his speed and agility......tough ask i knw... will be called a wanker or whatever by people who dont like bold brash people or characters.....i like a person who speaks their mind, no bull****, even if they fail, i want them to say it how it is.......ill back haye to the hilt......... hes still a champion to me.
His finishing is absolutely horrendous, he just punches non-stop without actually considering what he's trying to achieve.... swing for the fence time. No giving himself distance to punch No feints No bodyshots Watch the Harrison finish and compare it to..... Marquez Diaz I Froch Taylor Lewis Bruno Marquez Casamayor Haye's are more along the lines of Hatton trying to blast out Collazo in round one.
Try not to post like a biased twat and we'll get on fine. I'm under no illusions about Haye. I picked Wlad to beat him, remember. He's fast, powerful, has an underrated jab-straight combo (his best punches actually, and criminally underused) and is good at following a gameplan, but... He's crude, over-anxious, sloppy when trying to finish, and prone to admiring his work. As he's gotten so cagey at HW it basically means he spends time doing nothing but posing. Plus I think he's lost interest in fighting for whatever reason. If he was really still in it he'd have looked for a match against Arreola or someone like that and put on a show for fans again. I like the guy, but I'm not blind at all to him or his flaws. I'm disappointed in the guy, but I won't pick apart his career because of that. it is what it is. Historically, he's pretty mediocre, but he's still had a good career.
Wouldn't see a finish that early IMO, I think it would be a close fight. depends on how Adamek performed but Haye simply isn't that great
Good post, Beeston. He swarms opponents rather than taking them out. If he was a little better schooled he'd be devastating. Also, look at Marquez-Katsidis for proper punch placement.
why am i biased against Haye?! to be fair, your retort is fair enough re haye it is a bit annoying when you consider all the good fighters around who put on great fights, not making much money but then haye, who was in the most horrible heavyweight title fights of all time, continued to make millions. thats boxing, i guess. Ultimately ironically, he may have done us a favour regarding bull**** PPVs Hayes greatest win? Haye KO1 PPv
