How about him being afraid that he put his career on the line? As it turned out the injury was serious enough as it was. Who knows what would have been with 3 additional rounds of fighting?

I understand why people don't want to give Vitali credit for the Lewis fight, but how can anybody even argue that Vitali without the injury would have lost this rather one-sided fight. There was no incentive whatsoever for "faking" that injury. In the end he became an avoided fighter, who would not get another shot at a title for 3 years until Lennox granted him one.

Manny boxers get injured during a fight and not being able to continue is accepted, why are people then putting vitali's injury out there like it is the ultimate sin.

He got frustrated and quit. Simple as that.

Was still throwing openly with both arms right till the end.

Klitschko said in the Klitschko docu, that his brother knows his body better than his wife.
He meant his muscles, sinews and ligaments, but it still sounds akward.

He was so frustrated that he was only 5 point ahead on 2 scorcards and 6 on the other one? Oh, I get it he was close to getting KTFO, right?

I don't like heavy-handed censorship either. But I so no reason why blatant trolls like you that don't even pretend to be interested in a balanced discussion should get a little "time off" from the mods.

If he had a shoulder injury:

    1) Why did he throw punches with both arms in the final rounds?

    2) Why did he never ask for a rematch (which Byrd would have certainly given him)?

shut up already, you clown. I watched it live on TV at age 16 and once more a few years back on you-tube. VK was clearly in the lead and the scorecards reflect it. Get a life and don't devote yourself to hating another man who reached more than you ever will 24/7 on the internet.

    1) Because he took it as far as he could and is a tough costumer.

    2) Because Byrd lost the belt in a one-sided affair. Because everybody with a clue, knew that Byrd only "won" the fight due to the injury and being able to hold out until round 10.

And just to get this out of the way. I really like Chris Byrd and think he is an underrated fighter, but he already needed a knockout in order to win. VItali was never really in trouble.

You could not possibly hold those views if you actually watched the fight.

it was basically what he said himself. if he had not quit he might ended the fight unconscious on the canvas. that was his concern and a distinct possibility and the reason he quit. he couldn´t withstand the pain he felt, couldn´t see anymore and was about to collapse. he wasn´t afraid of any long term damage and also he could have easily rematched Byrd like he promised after the fight but instead he sent his little brother to handle the business for him..

What do you know? You probably scored Klitschko-Adamek a shootout for Adamek.

You might be able to do the clown/troll here, but your credibility to get into any serious discussion about boxing is non-existent. That is the price you have to pay for your childish nonsense. For those reasons I honestly don't even respect your opinion. You're just a pitiful side-show here and the forum as a whole would benefit from you not being around. So this will be the last reply you will get out of me on anything related to boxing. I am giving you this heads-up, because I consider myself to be a nice and reasonable person in general and assume that EVEN you have better use of your time than trolling another poster that won't be moved my your gibberish.

What do I know? I know that Vitali was up by one or two rounds max. I know that Vitali had landed eight more punches then Byrd in the entire fight. I know that Vitali was made to look like a lumbering fool at times, landing at a pitiful rate of 25% to Byrd's 44%. I know that Byrd was coming on strong and had just had his best round of the fight. I know that Vitali was still throwing openly with both arms for the whole fight.

But yeah I don't know more than you, who quoted the scores on Boxrec as some sort of proof.

Yeah, it was just a coincidence that Vitali quit when Byrd started to smash him.

The fact is that if Byrd had of not started bashing him up, Vitali would not of quit. So Byrd made Vitali quit. He pretty much said it himself.

BS, Byrd dominated him in the 5th. But that was the only rd I gave Byrd.
